Good day, came home from range and thoroughly cleaned my 686 SS used Mothers polish looks great. Question I have does Mothers polish protect stainless or is a good synthetic oil film like Royal Purple needed for protection ?

No problem did not purchase as investment, for protection and my enjoyment to shoot at range.

I just purchased 686 SS brand new and thought the darker trigger and hammer were normal, used Mothers cleaner and is bright stainless. Found out hammer and trigger are heat treated to strengthen the stainless. Don't understand why S&W at the price they get for the 686 it is not all polished to...

Good day, I purchased Mothers cleaner and removed that dark stain off the trigger of my 686 Pl. Now am considering doing the dark hammer, wondering is that a permanent dark color or is that the same as the trigger. The trigger now has the same shade as the rest of the revolver. Thank you
