    A Simple M&P/Model 10 question

Refresh my memory please... I do remember the .357 K frames having some issues with forcing cone erosion and cracking, but what bullet weights are known to be, or at least alleged to be, safe?

    Troubles with moon clips! UPDATE

Yeah, I was planning on that as a last resort. But, the new 0.040" clips should be here before I leave anyway, and the Rimz are being shipped to my destination so I'm all good now. :-)

    Troubles with moon clips! UPDATE

Yessir. One way of telling quickly is to just peak in a chamber. The ACP has a shoulder to headspace the ACP cartridge on the case mouth when moon clips aren't used. A .45 Colt won't chamber in one with this shoulder, and the ACP will just drop on in to the throat without it. Also, AFAIK...

    Troubles with moon clips! UPDATE

Thanks for the offer, but I already have 100 new moon clips coming. According to USPS tracking, they should be here by Thursday, so I should know how they work by the end of the week. :-)

    64-3 3" RB

Nice! I'd love to find a 3" 64 or 65. Just out of curiosity, what is the going rate for them now? I know of a store in the ATL metro area that has a ton of 2" 64 Dept. of Corrections trade-ins right now, but I don't remember the last time I've seen a 3" around here. Love to find one though.

    Troubles with moon clips! UPDATE

I'll try to get that measurement at some point. The 0.040" clips should arrive this week, but I'm leaving on vacation Sat. so I won't have time to fool with it until I get back. Then, I still need to get my reloading dies ordered. I don't have any unprimed .45 brass laying around yet either...

    Troubles with moon clips! UPDATE

Exactly! I haven't broken out the feeler gauges, but with the clips from Old Sarge's, I can close the cylinder but on some of them it requires some pressure just to close, whereas on a few others it closed but was too tight to rotate freely.

    How is this stippling done?

Not sure how that was done, but the "old fashioned" way of doing it by hand with a stippling punch and mallet works great, if a little time consuming.

    Price Range for 625?

Yeah, not crazy about the porting job. That pretty much kills it for me. But, back the original question. I just picked this one up at a LGS last week for $600. 4" 625-3:

Pics of Ahrends on a Blued K Frame?

Not mine, but they are retro combats, in either a square butt or a round to square conversion grip style. Not sure if they are cocobolo or moradillo.

Need Help Finding Right Wheel Gun

Good points again. Only I wasn't giving marital advice. ;-) I just answering his specific questions regarding a .357 revolver to share ammo with a .357 lever gun. If she still prefers to use .38 in the revolver then all is well with the versions capable of both rounds, such as the 65, 66...

    Troubles with moon clips! UPDATE

Well, we'll see. Most reports I've seen have been favorable, but if they don't work I'll just not bother with 'em. I'm done with sanding clips! Hopefully the new steel clips I have coming will work without a hitch and if the BMT tool works as slick as the video shows it to then I shouldn't...

    Troubles with moon clips! UPDATE

I have a pack of Rimz on the way, as well as 100 0.040" steel moonclips and the BMT loader tool. I received email notifications that the BMT tool and the steel clips shipped today, so they should arrive before I leave on vacation Sat. I emailed back and forth with Denny of Rimz clips and he's...

Need Help Finding Right Wheel Gun

All very good points. But, the OP did specify that he was looking for a .357 wheel gun as a companion piece to his wife's .357 Marlin. Personally, even though I would also most likely shoot it with .38's for the most part, I would still like the option of .357 ammo compatibility with the...

Need Help Finding Right Wheel Gun

'Cept shoot .357. ;-) The model 65 I mentioned above is the .357 version of the model 64.

Need Help Finding Right Wheel Gun

If she likes the 638 then the 649 would be a natural. .357 all steel version of the 638. But, that's if you are looking for something for concealed carry. If concealment isn't required for this particular gun, and she doesn't mind a bit more weight and size, and plans to shoot it a bit, then...

    Troubles with moon clips! UPDATE

100 new (0.040") clips ordered. As an experiment to see what the problem was, I did sand down one of the one I have, reducing it to 0.043-0.045" or so. Did a good job of removing my fingerprints in the process too! Ouch! But, the good news is that that one thinner one seems to work just...

    Troubles with moon clips! UPDATE

Yep, that's what I figured... I guess I now know... stick to sellers that specify the thickness to be 0.040". I just ordered another 100 from The Revolver Supply Company. Hopefully I'll be happy with these. I think I'll check with Old Sarge about returning these. I'll loose my shipping both...

    Troubles with moon clips! UPDATE

Didn't try all 10 of them, no. But, I did try one or two of them. Same result. But that didn't surprise me since the package for the demooning tool says Old Sarge's Drop Zone right on the package insert. I assume the clips all come from the same place. Guess I shouldn'ta bought a hundred...

    Troubles with moon clips! UPDATE

Just out of curiosity, and since everyone seem to be happy with the Ranch Products clips, would some mind mic'ing one a letting us all know the thickness?
