Pulled out the sawdust this weekend.

Back before the stampede had started on components I got a Lee .430" 240 grain double cavity swc mold. The Lee molds are a bit different from other molds in that they have multiple lube grooves and they do not recommend resizing, and further they recommend tumble lubing with Lee Liquid Alox (I...

Thinking of sticking to one loading...........

I annealed some 30-06 brass back in pre-internet times. I stood the brass up in an old aluminum ice cube tray filled with water. Heated the necks with a propane torch until I figured they were good to go and then swept them into the water. I am sure there are much wiser folks on here than I am...

    Shoot enough to be scared?

Varsity R.O.T.C college rifleteam 50 years ago. Lettered two years, shot matches in Texas and Louisiana, and Arkansas. Back then practiced 4-5 days a week. Still do a fair amount of pistol shooting, but reload and cast my own bullets. Been a spell since I have bought factory ammo; just not...

Why would you choose a bullet weight over another?

I agree. In 32S&w Long I once tried some 116 grain cast swc's. Due to dwell time I could not lower my rear sight enough to compensate. Therefore I stick to 98-100 grain swc's.

    32 s&w long loads

I always have a loaded powder trickler standing by. I agree, 2.4 grains of 231 seemed to be the most accurate in my 4" S&W 631, running about 680 fps with a 98 grain cast swc.

    CCI primers

Some Federal white box .223 I have had military crimps. Had to swage them. Only times I have had trouble with CCI or any primers was immediately before I discovered I was using the wrong size in my Lee Auto Prime.

    Worst Job in reloading!

Sometimes folks differ over the worst jobs in reloading. IMHO resizing, swaging the primer pockets, and trimming bottleneck rifle cartridges are at the top of my list; more specifically .556 and 7.62 Nato. Straight wall pistol cartridge cases are a picnic compared.

    Re-jigging a Forsight

As usual Julian Hatcher has the formula for figuring out sight adjustment. Textbook of pistols and revolvers. I have used it before.

Selling Guns and Ammo to a good friend

I gave my brother-in-law a box of 380 plus 15 rounds of 380 sig-sauer critical defense. When I was not looking he left 2 $20 bills at my house. My first impulse was to mail the money back to him, but he refused, saying that was half or less of what he could have gotten it for. Especially the...

    44 Special All Purpose Loads

Unique is my favorite for the 44 Special, but I have tried 231 a/k/a HP-38, which I found at a lgs last week, btw.

Opinions wanted on this bubba'd 25-2

How do the screws look? If they are buggered up, that is a very good indicator Bubba has been under the hood. Old advice is that even if it looks pretty good, but the screws are buggered up, pass on it.

    44 Special All Purpose Loads

Wowee! That is one hot hot load! I hope that is for the 44 Magnum. What is that running 1,300 - 1,400 fps? My pet load with a 240 gr swc is 6.8 gr Unique.

    Value Model 36

Only in the Arkansas; gal called me up and asked what I'd give for an airweight chief special. Learn from this: I told her $200. She brought the poor old thing in - Bubba had ground off the hammer spur and used the same grinder to narrow the trigger guard quite a bit, and while he was happily...

    First time loading .223

First used rcbs dies, then got one real stuck. Got set of RBG Lee dies. Buddy said"you mean you have only gone through one sizing die, I've gone through 4 sizing dies so far". I told him "I was just getting started on the little fellers, give me some time".

    First time loading .223

The only similarity between straight wall pistol reloading and 223 reloading is they are both called reloading. Take you time use small base dies, get a Lee trim tool because you will need one, re-read the above instructions often. I was spoiled mostly reloading 38 and 44 Special, 223 is...
