I have tried some mild loads in my 629's a few times over the years. I just keep going back to the thought that if I'm going to make the effort to carry a 629, it will be with a full power magnum load.
My preference is 240 gr XTP over H110 at 1450 fps.
Those holes are all from the factory ... at least according to the two 629-4's sitting in my safe. The darkened parts on top of the back strap are color transfer from the scope mount.
Things to consider: where is the original rear sight and screw? $850 is a fair price for that gun but not if...
I shoot a LOT of steel challenge, I have seen a few 41's that didn't seem to work too well but those situations were most likely operator error and lack of maintenance. The very few 41's that I have had the privelage to shoot were all well cared for and ran very well.
I would expect a 41 to do...
I had this happen when playing with reduced power springs in my 629-4. Long story short, I put the OEM springs back in the gun and it's been fine ever since.
I moved away from the light super fast bullets after getting some wicked flame cutting on a 629 years ago. At the moment, I have several thousand 240 gr XTP's on hand to last me hopefully through the current component shortage.
As mentioned previously, the size of the target (aim point) will mostly dictate the power of your scope. My 100 yard target for verifying zero is a 1" circle with a 1/2" bullseye. My 'light' PRS rifle has a 4-20 XTR2 that mostly lives at 15x and will put 5 rounds inside the bull every time...
I have 4.2" M69. It's amazing how accurate that little gun is. It's favorite bullet is 240 gr XTP. I love exploding water filled gallon milk jugs with it at 100 yards.
Beat me to it ...
As a backup gun, I would not want to add any more weight than necessary to my duty rig.
As a primary gun, definitely needs to have more mass than an Airweight
Which type of bear? Black bear is one thing entirely different from grizzly.
I keep mine loaded exclusively with 240 gr XTP over a full charge of H110 and have had no problems whatsoever.
I had one, it was a fun gun to shoot. My Dan Wesson collection had to get trimmed down and is somewhat weak at the moment, but back to growing again.
1) Mine had the same problem. Recoil spring fixed it. I do not remember what spring rate I installed but it was one of a Wilson Combat recoil...
My suppressed .300 BLK was shooting 22" low with subsonic 190gr bullets and 18" low with 130 gr at 1800 fps at 100 yards. I haven't been around too many rifles with suppressors but there is always a very definite shift in POI.
My buddy had to put a 20 MOA scope mount on his 20 MOA receiver 6.5...
The tip color is so they can identify the ammo when it is clipped up in a belt. Typically every 5th round is a tracer with the others being whatever mission specific is needed.
The number after LC is the year of manufacture of the case itself, not necessarily the year the ammo was made ... LC13...
Rock River Arms 2-stage varmint trigger is my go to. Simple, reliable, cheap, easy, SAFE, stays consistent over thousands and thousands of rounds. All of my AR's have this trigger kit installed.
Magpul furniture in your dishwasher will be fine. I have done it several times. I don't use the...
If you were to add another zero to that reliability test, then we would be talking about something ...
Glocks are good. Very very good. No question, no doubt, Glocks RUN and run very well.
My personal experience has me replacing all my Glock pistols with Walther PPQ's. Two Q5 Match pistols...
I would buy those in a heartbeat.
I would prefer they were not cleaned but most sellers try to make their items more presentable so that's usually not an option.
If they truly are once fired as OP states, they would definitely be good brass to have.
1993 was when I got my first handgun ... 629-4. Ammo wasn't terribly expensive for me but loading my own definitely made it way more affordable to shoot.
Then it became all about loading EXACTLY what I want vs settling for whatever is available. And trust issues ... I trust my handloads way...
For me, it wasn't anything fancy ... just a rimfire pistol that RUNS.
Found a Ruger MkIV 22/45 Lite, set it up for Steel Challenge and went shooting with the caveat that the LGS would buy it all back at full retail if it didn't work.
Thirteen cases of CCI Mini Mags, ZERO malfunctions and 2...
