I kind of did the same thing but a little different way. I took my 915 and found a nice Stainless 5906 slide. and then replaced the trigger and slide stop. got the same effect.. when ever I take it range I get a what model is that..

Here's why new 3rd Gens are history

I think I read some were they can heat melt a m&p frame for something like what 15 cents.. and I would think making just half a gun by machining it, is a ton more cost effective then building one with a metal frame.. plastic frame guns are the norm, most of the new shooters and some of old guys...

    3rd generation hammer interchange?

how about swapping a stainless steel 5906 hammer into a model 915.. the stainless one says - ONLY 3906-5906-4506.. and my 915 hammer says ONLY-4905-3905-5904-915... only thing I see different is the lower front section on the 5906 hammer is flat and my 915 hammer is round.. how will this effect...

    New to me 915

915's are under rated. just a plain jane 5906 really.. made 1993-1994. mines a TZP so not sure if that's 93 or 94?? oh. part for 5906 fit our 915's. I have traded into a 5906 stainless slide, trigger, hammer and slide stop. two tone looks pretty good.

    915 import marked slide

did a little slide swap on my 915 with a stainless 5906 slide.. so I am wondering what a C.A.I import striped slide might be worth? had to gut its parts for the 5906 slide.. once I get my other stainless parts come i'll post pictures of my now two tone 5906/915...

Recoil Springs for my 39-2,639,3914 and 5906

d.b.d.2005. thanks for asking them same question I was going to ask... I have alloy frame 915 and after looking at the Wolff springs on Midway they say factory is 14lbs. and I was wondering too if maybe 16lbs might be a good idea.. but after reading this post i'll stock to 14lb. my 915 looks...

Just bought my first 3rd Gen.

yeah I am doing the same thing. found a great deal on a 915. very close to a 5906 but not stainless. i had a 4046 back in the late 90's and some one talked me into selling .. . there are tuff guns! shoot it first I bet it needs nothing. only thing I might do is get a set of Hogue grips and look...
