How Many Have DUMPED their J-Frame for a NEW MINI Semi-Auto?

Yes I replaced my 5 shot revolvers with a compact 9mm a few years ago (now a Shield 9). I just wasn't happy with my accuracy.

Would you want this for your shield?

While I don't know about the Shield, I have seen slow motion film of polymer framed pistols flexing during recoil. I really don't know how that area is affected but I believe that Glock 22 with rail mounted lights experienced reliability issues so -something attached- in that area on the frame...

Would you want this for your shield?

If you haven't already don't forget to consider the recoil forces on the two screws and how that will affect the area of the frame where the holes are.

How do you use safety on shield

Bill brings up a good point. I have traditionally been a no-safety person with carry guns. But thinking similarly about what Bill just said and also the probability of ever actually needing the gun and not being able to take the safety off and dying as a result. Versus someone else getting a...

Great Action of an old gent.

Yes! Initiative can make up for a lot of deficiencies. Particularly effective if the assailants are not dedicated.

Great Action of an old gent.

Good performance by a courageous person who appeared to not have any training at all. We should all be so lucky.

    some ??? about idpa

IDPA has a website with the rule book on it I believe. It should answer all your questions. Really suggest you go to a match and watch first. Also, go to youtube and search, there will be a ton of videos with stages being shot in them.

    Buck shot and rifled barrels

You'll probably be fine if you don't plan on using the gun outside of the house. Me personally, I would want the ability to use the gun for protection outside the house at longer distances if I had to. You could sell just the barrel and replace it with something else. My home defense 870 was...

Best Single Mag Pouch for M&P

I love Comp-tac clip-on single mag pouches. It's been a while since I had my M&P but I believe anytime you use a metal mag in kydex there's a chance it will stick if you don't pull it out right. Gould and Goodrich has a great single mag case with paddle that's leather and adjustable for with...

    Revolver vs Auto IWB...

Regardless of what holster or pants I try, my shape makes IWB uncomfortable. So if I'm going to be uncomfortable anyway, I prefer to carry a gun that gives me the biggest advantage and that is usually a semi auto like my G26 or Kahr CM9 (as opposed to my 340 or LCR). They are heavier, but...

    Hornady Critical Duty

+P means loaded to higher "P"ressure and there is no set percentage. They can increase the pressure by using more/different powder or a heavier bullet. Usually it's the powder that is changed or increased. There is no +P standard in the .40 S&W.

Semi Auto vs Revolver For Carry

Only carry a 340 or LCR if I can't carry the Kahr CM9. The Kahr fits in the same pockets while giving me a couple of extra bullets, better sights and a much better trigger.

What to use that is in between .38+P and .357 ?

Good suggestions above for the mid range .357 loads. But in the long run it will be easier for you if you just accept the fact that the 38 +P has been taking care of business for 30 years. There are a number of good loads out there now that are generally easy to come by at the stores. Gold...

5.56 ammo accuracy, or lack of

You're going to get those results from that class of ammunition, it's loaded as cheaply as possible. My M&P15 throws a pattern with the cheap stuff but is good enough for training and practice. The only "good" ammo I have tried was Black Hills and the difference was eye opening.

    Anyone carry one?

Slow to fire one handed, slow to reload. What's not to like? There might be monetary considerations involved... but if a single action is all you're comfortable with AND you're serious about CCW, it might behoove you to take the time to become comfortable with something more advantageous. If...

    Unloading your gun.

Oh ok I was thinking you were overhanding with the weak hand with the gun tilted towards the extractor.
  19. A

    Unloading your gun.

If you do this vigorously, there's the possibility of the ejected round hitting your hand and bouncing back, being pinched between the extractor and the breech and going off (primer hit by the extractor). It's just one round, let it fall.

Preferred Weight for .380 Self Defense Ammo?

90gr is mostly standard but as Alan says it's what is most reliable in the gun.
