Shooting my recent purchase, Model 17-4

I had ordered the spring kit and installed it back in late August with the 13# rebound spring and the mainspring. Last week I brought it with me to WNC and fired it for the first time since the spring change. What a difference it made. I am very happy with the result. This is a target gun and...

I need your opinions on my 686

A gun is a tool, it will get banged up sometimes. I accepted that when I purchased a Model 10 from Bud's with a lot of the blueing gone from holster wear. It would be different though if I did it since I am OCD with me guns.

Shooting my recent purchase, Model 17-4

Thanks very much, I think I will give the springs a try, I can always go back to the the original that way.

Shooting my recent purchase, Model 17-4

What lb. rebound spring would you recommend for the Model 17? I see there are 5 different weights in Wolf springs.

I was talking about the DA pull. Would you recommend a polished the sear and hammer?

What if I honed the sear with a stone, would that help reduce the trigger pull on a revolver?

Shooting my recent purchase, Model 17-4

Since I purchased my .22 S&W, I waited to shoot it up at my WNC home instead of the indoor range in Fl. I am very happy with it. It is so much fun shooting off my deck at steel targets, hanging cans and plastic containers filled with colored water instead of paper targets at the indoor range...

    Bulk .22 LR isnt extinct

I have had no problem getting ammo at Gander Mt. I found a brick of .22 Federal for $24 and 1000 round bulk case of 9mm UMC for $269. Every week they get their shipment and regulate it so many people have the chance to purchase some.

I received my Model 17-4 today...

That's interesting, I did not know that the 22 revolvers will shoot shorts.

I received my Model 17-4 today...

....and what a beauty! I ended up purchasing an excellent used one. I am guessing it was made around 1980, the serial # is 83K5Xxx. I just can't believe the excellent condition it is in, like a new gun. I plan on shooting it later this week, it is solid and tight. I also received my first steel...

    Model 17 .22

Thank you for all your advise on the Model 17 and the tack driving. I have decided to look into a good used one as most of you have advised. I believe I will get more for my money. I will let you know when I get it with pictures. Thanks again.

I meant to say 22/45 instead of 10/22 above.

    Model 17 .22

I am looking to purchase a Model 17 .22. I was wondering if the new classic models are as good as the older used ones(triggers, etc.)? I think I would enjoy a .22 wheel gun to shoot along with my Ruger 10/22s and Beretta conversion kit. I plan to use it for target shooting and plinking at...

    You guys were right!

I purchased my S&W Model 10 for use up at my home in NC. Since I have been here, I have been having fun with it shooting of my deck and the rest of my property. I haven't used it for it's primary reason, snakes and hope I do not. What a feeling. I will be sad to go back to South FL for a couple...

Smith and Wesson just released the new M&P Shield

I have a PPS and love the way it handles, shoots and conceals. The Shield is inexpensive in price compared to the PPS. I would suggest handling both when you go back to the store and hopefully by then someone will have written their shooting experience.
