Bought a 3913 today. Not a NL, LS, or TSW, just a plain old 3913. The seller said he thought it might have been CA Dept. of Corrections gun, but he wasn't sure.

It's very clean and looks to have hardly been shot.

Pictures to follow when I get it cleaned up a bit.

OTOH, I should be selling my M&P9c early next week. Nice gun, but as I said to the seller, no soul. There's just something about a plastic framed gun that I can't take too seriously.

Ya but its a habit or passion you can be forgiven for. No such thing as too many guns.

Yup...I have way more 3rd gen pistols that I need. But, not even close to having all that I want.

I like what you said about no soul. No matter how tough they are, 3rd gens require attention and care. They may eat whatever you feed them, but wouldn't you prefer to give them a good diet. Sorry, getting emotional. I guess I should get a dog or something.

Yes, I know what you mean. I bought a 3913 on-line from Robertson's and it was a California Correctional pistol also. Great price and a great gun. S&W made some great semi-autos and , to me, the 3913 is at the top of the list. Great shooters, small, compact and accurate as hell!
I hope you enjoy your 3913 as much as I do mine.

I'm with the OP. Prior to Feb, I never really thought about owning a CS9. I read a post about how great the CS9 was and ended up with a stainless and a blue version within a month. Arghh this forum! It made me buy a 1006, 3913 as well as some wheel guns. Make it stop!

Does yours have any markings to indicate that it's Corrections Dept. gun? Mine does not and I thought from reading a 6906 thread that the guns were marked. In any case the little wear it has seems to be from carry and not shooting.

I forgot to mention that the seller gave me a Crossbreed Supertuck as part of the deal.

I feel the same way about plastic, 100%. It's a shame those older Smiths still aren't in production. I wish they'd bring some back in a "classic" line as they did with the revolvers. Just makes me nervous shooting an old gun whose parts are becoming increasingly rare. The 39-series is one of the best ever made, IMO.

Yeah, thanks to all the warm fuzzy support around here I now have a 411 on the way to join my other 3rd gens. We are basically just a bunch of snakes encouraging each other to bite the apple. All I know anymore is that I want more apples:o
