    Ruger GP 100 S&W comparison

I'm with your, have had a red hawk, have a 5 inch 629 now, have sold most of my Rugar guns, kept the new vaquero in 45lc, 22-45, and 10-22. They are big with heafty triggers. A friend has a GP100, I just don't like the trigger and cylinder release...just me I guess. I just Like S&W...

Why do YOU carry a revolver?

I do carry .45 auto alot, but a .357 of one sort or another more often. As many others have said the revolver goes bang when you pull the trigger. You can shoot it single or double action. Speed loaders offer fast reloads. The safty never comes off accidentally. I do have several I choose...

    Best Bed Stand Gun???

    625JM - use without moonclips & vs 627

Alot of this I guess is a matter of preferance. I think .357 can not be beat for two legged critters. I have a 627 pro 4" and I love the gun. A bit large for concelled carry; however, for hiking ect, eight rounds of .357 is just a handfull of mean. I also have a 686+, and is another fine...

    New 629 Classic 5"

I also love the 629 5", perfect for back woods carry and hunting, 6" is a bit long for me for quick shots, and still not too bulky to carry. Perfect hunting revolver in my humble opinion. I do carry 625 4" mountain gun in 45 colt for just hiking ect, but for handgun hunting the 629 5" is king...

Looking to buy a S&W Mountain Gun ???'s

I have two in 45 colt, but that being said I reload, if I did not reload I would go with the 44 mag. Either is a good choice, guess if I were going to get an N framed 357 I would go with the 627 pro, now eight 357 is quite a bit of protection, except for bear, but havn't seen any bear in the...

    What's a good price on a 686 4"?

Have seen them around here for between 550 and 750. I have a 4 inch I bought new (686-5), one of my favorite guns. 4 inch just makes for quick targeting and easy carry, a bit large for conceled carry, but perfect for hiking ect. Mine is very accurate, and others I know who have them love them.

    649-5

Well just back from range, and have to say I love the gun. Tried some buffalo bore 158 gr JHP, that was painfull, arthritic actually...as expected. Only fired ten of these, accurate, but heavy recoil, won't be using these for carry for sure (I do for my 686+ with 4 inch barrel and these work...

    649-5

Well I have been looking for a pocket .357, found a used (near new...I would say 95%) 649-5. I think, the best pocket revolver made, was about to settle for one of those new bodyguard 38, but there it was, $540, looks like some one never carried it, and fired perhaps a box through it. Going to...

Are many people buying new S&W revolvers?

I have two post lock guns, a 5" 629 classic and a 25-13 in 45 colt, either is as good as any of my older Smith pistols..686 plus, model 625 also in 45 colt. Honestly, I don't like the lock either, but as far as quality goes, I don't see a difference in fit, function or performance, they are all...

    Model 625 JM

I have two mountain guns, both in 45 Colt, a good bet if you reload. If you don't reload I would agree with the other poster and get the 44 mag.

Love my mountain guns, easy carry, fun to shoot, great hiking and camping gun.

    hello from Az

I agree, best balance for carry, and speed for shooting when hunting. Have only shot Javalina so far, HAM season for deer is short here in Az, and with the lottery draw for tags can be a bit rough to get drawn, and seems to be about the only way to get drawn...so I may just switch to handgun...

    hello from Az

Hello from Az. I love Smith & Wesson revolvers and Wilson 45 autos. Have two mountain guns in 45 LC (625-6 in stainless with the sabor tooth firing pin and a 25-13), a 629 classic (5")and a 686+ (4"). In my book Smith & Wesson are the kings of the revolver world. I reload most of what I...
