Long overdue-will be fun to watch

Hey, that government peanut butter is a heck of a lot healthier than the stuff sold commercially. A lot of it goes to school lunch programs, but Uncle could make out selling the stuff. Probably better & cheaper than the "organic" stuff too.

    New Nuclear Power Plant

I don't think that sending power to earth is the intent. About nuke plants in space : http://large.stanford.edu/courses/2012/ph240/johnson1/ Don't know if it can be scaled up, but we've been using nuke generated electricity in space a long time

If that rib is uniform width, milling a dovetail might work for a more conventional sight.

    New Nuclear Power Plant

Dunno about the time table, but there won't be any NIMBYs on the moon. That should-somewhat-streamline the permit process. I think it was someone from the NRC who made a crack about when the weight of the paperwork matched the weight of the plant, a nuke could go online. OK, there do have to...

    Sight Change

If you can determine the brand, call them and ask how it's installed for that firearm. There might be a hidden pin......or maybe epoxy.

    Things Change

Read an article in the WSJ yesterday about shipyard maintenance delays here in the US and how it's affecting readiness. My experience is that one thing planners NEVER take into consideration is called "emerging scope" work. This is when routine maintenance reveals issues that have to dealt with...

    Motor Heads, I need help/advice.

I'm sure they've improved convertible/roadster tops since my '65 Spitfire, but like the gent above, I want a solid-no moon roof either-lid on my vehicles. The other thing that car taught me is that highly tuned technical engines can be maintenance problems waiting to happen. That's pretty much...

    Things Change

It was long ago in an economics class where the prof pointed out that losing WWII let Germany and Japan build their industries from near ground up without having to deal with the issues of what we'd now call "legacy manufacturing". I got a first person example of this decades later. In the...

    Volunteer XV

While plinking is your intended use, a fixed front sight and a cheek/chin weld can save your butt up close and personal. Especially if your optic takes a dump. Gas blocks should ALWAYS be pinned. OK, the USAMTU doesn't/didn't pin the gas blocks on their match guns-or when they built the rifles...

    Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) trip

12 or so years ago was shooting in a TPC match and a cop from Texas was trying to find a (any) factory ammunition box so he could fly his unused ammo home. I gave him one. You might want to be sure what type of ammo container is acceptable to the carrier. IIRC, the ammo must be separate from the...

    What Caliber for Small Antelope?

Jack O'Conner once wrote of being on safari and the PH suggested he pot one if he didn't want canned stuff for lunch. He admitted he goofed and gut shot the poor thing with a .375. Took them quite some time to find it and put it out of it's misery. Lunch was out of a can.

    Can you shoot 32 H&R Magnum +P in…..

Actually, the .38+P rating was intended to take improvements in metallurgy-and the use of heat treatment-since 1899 into account. Now the 9mm +P rating was pretty much an admission that the 9mm had been underloaded in the US up until that time. All to protect us from those "junk foreign guns"...

Suggestions for removing rust from inside barrel?

I haven't price rifle barrels lately, but given the prices of bore scopes, you could be well on your way to a new barrel.

    Dovetail sight removal and installation?

OK, all I can say to that is that I changed a lot of 1911 sights and they came out easier to the left. That was the conventional wisdom back in the last century. ETA: I've had a new Colt series 70 that needs better than factory sights in the safe for ~40 years. The rear sight came out right to...

    Dovetail sight removal and installation?

Direction can be brand specific. Factory Colt 1911 sights are installed (looking from slide rear) left to right. S&W auto sights are installed right to left. Rifle? Soak in Kroil, then pick a direction and see if the sight moves.
