Favorite bullet weight for .44 magnum

I am using 180 gr. Hornady XTPs over 15 grains of AA#5 for inside shooting and 240 grain factory XTPs for hunting.

    M & P Trigger pull

I had Dan do my trigger on my 40 M&P also. It is like night and day compared to what it was. I left the trigger on my 9mm M&P which I carry as my duty gun at the facory pull. It was really bad at the beginning but after over 5000 sent down range it has become acceptable.

    H 110 vs. W 296 in .44 Magnum, which gives best accuracy?

I have been loading AA#5 in my Super Redhahk using XTPs and they have been delivering exceptional accuracy for me.

    New 945-1

My barrel and busing on my 945 are extemely tight. Also the barrel is as smooth as a babys behind. I would get in touch with Smith and see if they will take care of your problem

    New 945-1

I have had my 945 for a little over a year now and still enjoy shooting it as much as I did the first time. Congrats on your purchase!

Has somebody experience with an smith&wesson m&p pistol in 40 s&w

I have had one since they were first available and have fired many thousands of rounds through it. Mine has never given me any problems to speak of. I have the factory night sights and have had a trigger job done by [email protected]. I traded my Glock23 for the M&P 40 and have no...

    S&m 945

Mine is tight for sure and can be a lot of fun sometimes getting the barrel and bushing the way they should be after cleaning. Once again though it is a great gun and I am really happy with it. If I want a 1911 I will probably opt for one of the new Smith Pro series models.

    best brass for .40s&w

I don't sort pistol brass anymore as I can not tell much if any difference in the accuracy or performance of any of my pistols with one particular headstamp. I have shot many thousands of 40s through my M&P and it like them all.

    S&m 945

I have a 945 and love the gun. While it may not be as accurate as the top end competition my will shoot around 2" or a little more at 25 yards all day long from the bench with good handloads. That is as good as I can shoot and I am happy with that. I have managed to shoot a few 5 shot groups...

    45ACP strange brass

I have a lot of 45 acp brass with the small primer pockets and like so many others I just weed them out into the recyle bucket.

Is a 180gr. 44 mag adequate for whitetail?

I have killed several deer both with the 180 and 240 grain XTP bullet out of my Super Redhawk. While I have never shot one in the shoulder, when I put the bullet where it should go in the lung area the deer are as good as in the freezer. I try to keep my shots to 50 yards or less and have had...

    M&p .40 issue - need some help

My 945 shoots 5 shot groups around 2.75" at 25 yards with factory loads. With handloads I have managed to get that to 1.75" using Tite Group and 185 grain bullets. I normally shoot TiteGroup with 230 fmj bullets and that runs from 2.75 to almost 3 inches at 25 yards. Not the best accuracy in the...

    Seeking new electronic scale

I have the RCBS 750 and really like it. It shows .1 of a grain heavier than my Lyman DPS1200 scale does on everything I weigh but either way it is a great littel scale for around a $100 bucks.

I need a fix for glocked 45acp brass

I use a Lee undercut sizing die for any 40s that I load. Neither the Dillon die in my 550b or my RCBS dies will get the case sized enough to fit all the way in the case gage although they will drop right in the barrel of my M&P with no problem. So if I want them to fit in the case gage I use the...

    C.O.L. Question

Thanks Skip, I appreciate your comments. I to have noticed the difference in length on many of the handgun rounds I load. Since I don't load anything near max but stick around the middle if not lower end of the range when punching paper I feel safe with my loads. A good example is I usually...

    FMJ vs LEAD

I surely have put more than that through my 28-2 and she still shhots better than I can hold.

    Reloading 9mm

I use the 115 Win. fmj with 6.3 grains of AA#5. I use to use Titegroup also but the AA#5 meters so much better in my 550B.

    Dillon 550

I agree with the primer feed as being the weak point in the press. It will get dirty, clogged and will cause a lot of problems if not watched closely. One other things is that my press jerks a lot on the down stroke due to my powder crop and flare tube sticking somewhat in the recharged case as...

    C.O.L. Question

Thanks again for the comments. I guess I am use to crimping when I load for my 44 mag and 357 as the bullet will creep without a good crimp on it. You are correct on the cannelure width and if I seat to the bottom of the cannelure that should add a a little more length to get me closer to the...
