629-3, Alaska State Troopers, Letter Received, 15 made

There was a creep named Michael Silka who drove to Manley Hot Springs and started shooting people to death as they came to the boat ramp. He murdered several residents of the area and even shot a man who was coming up to the boat ramp in his riverboat. Jeff Hall was one of the AST members who...

    coated bullet porn

I'm thinking they're cast bullets coated with bake on paint, which allows them to be shot without lube. The purpose is to have bullets that can be used even at higher velocities that don't lead the bore.

    ?s about a 25-5

I'm no expert but if it's a later gun with the non pinned barrel, you should be good to go. Even if it does have over sized throats it still might shoot fine. You might go with larger size cast bullets if it doesn't group well enough though.

    S&W 28-2 Value

I think $425 would be fair to both of you.

Model 28-2 with matte frame and polished cylinder?

"Most likely somebody changed out the rear sight blade and put the front yellow insert in. But all sorts of weird and mismatched things came out of S&W factory. I bought this Model 28 new and it came with a high polish 27 cylinder." This post in response to my post about a Highway Patrolman was...

Just found my first S&W in the garage.

Taffin recommends a light coating of baby oil on the inside of the ivory grips once or twice a year. It doesn't look carried or neglected enough to have been a service revolver. You have a S&W treasure there.

    Mod. 29 with unrecessed cylinder

The gun had some oil around the Mod. 29 stamp but I'm pretty sure it said Mod 29 and nothing else. I think the original cylinder was damaged at some point and was replaced with a current cylinder. The extractor star was the old style and not the square style that Smith & Wesson uses now.

    Mod. 29 with unrecessed cylinder

I saw a 6 1/2" Model 29 dash nothing at the show today. A friend of mine pointed it out to me and I looked at it a couple of times. It was a 4 screw gun, with the screw on the front of the trigger guard. It had some Pachmayr grippers on it, with no original stocks. We didn't notice the...

    5-Inch 27-2 prices

I like the 5" Mod 27 in part because that was the revolver and barrel length that gunwriter Skeeter Skelton carried when he was a sheriff. He wrote highly of that configuration. It might be $150 or $200 more than I'd like to spend on one, but that will be the regular price for one before too...

    38/44 Outdoorsman SCORE!Factory Letter Post 32

I'd go easy on the Flitz. It removes finish and leaves fine scratches on the gun which become noticeable after 2 or 3 applications.

    Found a gem today

That's an early one. It has the stainless finish rear sight. Good find!

    38/44 Outdoorsman SCORE!Factory Letter Post 32

Have the chambers been reamed to .357 length in your 38/44 Outdoorsman? It looks great and has some nice upgraded sights.

    Dirty Harry Model 29

In addition to Milius saying they used a 6" gun in this clip instead of a 6.5", Milius also wrote that Harry carried "a light Special. With this size gun it gives me more control." That line in Magnum Force caused a lot of grief for all concerned.

Smith model 48 owners step right in....

For the price quoted, I'd go and look at it before I rejected it. They're good revolvers.

    WTB Freedom Arms

Is that 357 a Model 83 or Model 97? It's a nice looking revolver in either case!

    Acquired another S&W 57 (this is #5)

Those grips look like the type Elmer Keith preferred on his 44 Magnums. The steer's head is designed to fill the palm when you grip the revolver to help control recoil. His were made of ivory.

    craigslist 29-2

This is the picture that was in the craigslist ad. The cylinder is open in this pic. I've cleaned it up since I got it home because it was kind of grungy. It would seem that it's been owned by guys who carried it and shot it, but didn't clean it very often. It turned out to be a nice looking...

Giving up the semi's - just revolvers for me!

If I'm checking out a bump in the night, and I can't have my friends with me who have their own guns to help me, I'm going to have the next best thing in my hand which is a higher cap semi auto. Of course a rifle or shotgun would be even better, but we're talking about handguns here. This is...
