    Schofield grip observations

For those of you who've seen and handled many original S&W No. 3 frame Schofield revolvers, what sorts of grip materials are you seeing on these old revolvers? I have an interest in period grip materials. I recently saw a large collection on pre-1900 Colt SAA's. Many had provenance to...

Frame designation for DA & LEMONSQUEEZERS

Correct. In your search you may find grips for the .32 cal Safety Hammerless. These will be smaller and will not fit your .38. I'm guessing those grips in your picture are from a .32. If you search for a place called NC Ordnance, they make reproduction grips for these old guns.

Frame designation for DA & LEMONSQUEEZERS

The "I" frame designation refers to the first line of solid frame hand ejectors that started in 1896. They initially were chambered in .32 S&W Long, then .22 (the 22/32 Kit Gun) and then .38 S&W (the Regulation Police). The revolver in your picture is a 38 Safety Hammerless (aka "New...

    1917 .45ACP Holster (1918 build)

I had El Paso Saddlery make me a leather WWI belt holster for my 1917. They have "blue gun" model of the 1917 in house so it has a custom fit. They can make a "civie" holster as well. For a civie holster, take a look at their "Tom Threeperson" or their "Austin" models.

    cowboy action shooting knife

If you want something very authentic to the period, look up Swamp Fox Knives. It is owned by a blacksmith named Tim Ridge. He hand forges period knives. His work is second to none. Ive carried his blades at NCOWS , SASS, and RGA events and always get high praise for the blades'...

    Tell me what I have.

Thats a Spanish copy of the S&W 44 DA. It was made in Eibar, Spain, most likely by Trocaola Aranzabal y Cia. Many of these were commissioned by the British for use in WWI. Seems they needed more handguns and looked to the Spaniards for these. If it never left Spain, there will be no proof...

    Large Frame .38 S&W

Common misconception about 38-40. 38-40 is actually a .401 caliber bullet over 38 grains of powder. This is the opposite nomenclature of most antique BP cartridges such as 44-40 (.44 cal bullet over 40 grains of powder). Why this cartridge was named as such is a mystery. The 38-40 actually...

    Elite Silver info?

I picked up a 30" elite silver from CDNN. At they're price, you will not find a nicer shotgun. The fit and finish are absolutely beautiful. I own a few Berettas and this O/U easily is on par with their quality. (oh and they cost me 3x as much as the CDNN price on the S&W).
