May I ask what you had to pay for the beauty. I just purchased a 1978 with 3 mags, 5.5 barrel for $400. Wondering how I did.

Is there any way I can determine the year of manufacture for the 41 I just purchased? It has the cocking indicator and 5 1/2 inch barrel. It is in excellent condition. Serial #A439xxx

Mine is the traditional with the bobbed hammer. I feel the 3rd generation are highly underrated and most are unaware of their reliability. I'm fortunate to have the three that I do, the 908S, 4013, and 4566.

I have a 908S, 4013, and 4566. They are all great guns and operate flawlessly. My 908 has over 2000 rounds through it and never a hiccup. All 3rd generation so all field strip the same. I almost traded the 4013 for a G27 but then decided against it. Glad I did not trade.

I had the same thing on my 4566 which I purchased from Gander Mountain. They have a 12 month warranty on their guns so they sent it in to S & W. I had it back in three weeks with the problem solved. I have no idea what they did as they never say. It works great now. Nice and quiet.

I was offered $300 by a local gun store to trade it for a Glock 27. I have eight magazines for it. The store usually marks up used handguns about $100.

S & W Service Gander Mountain sent my 4566 to S & W for repair and I had it back in three weeks, it is like new. Obviously I had excellent service.

A good friend of mine has it, he took it to settle a debt owed him and he does not want it, he is in to shotguns big time. I have taken it to the range and also cleaned it for him.

I posted this question within another thread but decided to list it separately. I have an opportunity to purchase a 41 in excellent condition, 5.5" barrel for $450. What do you guys think. Should I go for it?

I also have discovered the 3rd. generation. I have the 908S and 4013. Looking for a 4516 or 4513TSW.

I just checked and Midway has new factory mags and CDNN has used factory mags for about half the cost of new mags.

I have a 908S and it has functioned flawlessly for 2500 rounds. It is a beauty. Traditional Double Action means the first round of a magazine is DA all others are SA.

Thanks for your input. Made my purchase yesterday but don't know when I will get to the range. It also came with 3 mags. Winter has arrived in Northern Michigan. When I broke it down today I was surprised there was an inner and outer spring on the guide rod. My gunsmith explained the reason...

I purchased a new 908S in July and now have 2300 rounds through it. Not a hiccup. It has functioned flawlessly. I have added Hogue grips, Trijicon sights, and replaced the plastic spring rod with the one for the 3913. I also have a Galco holster for a 3913. It fits beautifully. For $225...
