    S&W .32 Long

What a nice little gun! That appears to be ANIB (as new in box), and probably unfired. These are desirable and in that condition it might bring in the $500 to $700. Don't take to a dealer to sell, he will only offer you about 60% or less for it. There is a For Sale place here on the forum...

    Goodbye

I had a retinal surgery to eliminate a macular pucker about 20 years ago. It worked, but the end result left me with about a 2 degree area in the center of my left eye vision that is all squirrelly. Image twisted and random. I have learned to look around it and only bothers me in close up...

Got a call from Homeland Security

I get several a day from various text messages for "approving" the order of the whatever I bought with Pay Pal, or to pay for the software i ordered. My M'soft #11 has a "Junk/Block" feature and it often does well blocking that one, but then a different one shows up. Delete, delete, delete.

    .22 Bolt Action Rifle

Just about any "good brand" of bolt action rifle is a good companion and makes a likeable shooter. My preference is a Anschutz sporter from about the late 60's. With a compact 4-12 Burris scope it handles about anything I have needed done. I have a 10-22 and it is fun, but burning up ammo is...

    686 in .357

You asked for pictures. This one is a no dash, shipped June 1982, s/n AAF66xx. Stocks replaced by Mr Hogue himself in 1986. And the recall done by Mike Stuckschlager, (old timers will remember him).

    Info needed about a 36-6 3" Target

The 60-4 was the stainless equivalent. I sometimes wonder if the 2000 includes both blued and stainless. I have personally seen too many 36-6's just in my local area to believe there are only 615.

    #1 & #2

Don't have any No 2's, but a few different #1 1/2's/ Both rim fire and center fire. The little plaque identifies the type.

    Hammer Bobbing...opinions, please.

I did one on a Mod 60 some years ago, kept the original mainspring and hand no problems. After I had acquired a Mod 640 I replaced the original unmolested hammer to the Mod 60.

    Just Spotted a Unicorn!

A friend of mine has the same but in .308. I think he mounted a scope, a few shots to zero, and that's it. Doubt if has been out of his safe for 30 years.

    Stubborn K Frame Sideplate

When I first started working on S&W's, about 40 years ago, I read a gunsmithing book and it said, to remove the side plate use a "wooden" small hammer handle, ans hit "smartly" on the inside edge of the grip frame. I had a 2 oz ball peen hammer I use and it has let me remove every side plate I...

moving my herd east, looking for advice

In the back of the truck. Two cautions. 1. Open to theft any time you are not in the vehicle. 2. Quite a few states require unattended vehicles with firearms to be locked up. If you can't "lock up" your truck bed I would recommend you find a way to do so.

    Kershaw Dividend Composite Blade

Kershaw has been making great blades for many years. I have a Kershaw assisted opening 1660CKT that I have been carrying since 2006. Perfect size and blade configuration. Not any multi steel, but just good solid knife.

    The 1987 L-Frame Recall 586/686

The original issues were mainly caused by "Hot" 125 GR +P+ that caused excessive recoil and caused the primers to flow back into the over size hole in the hammer nose bushing. And, yes they would "lock up" a cylinder.

S&W 500 penetration and tumbling questions

DonD is correct, Dick Metcalf ,(writer for Shooting Times), was the first to shoot an African Cape Buffalo. Very shortly after the gun was released. Not sure of the load, but have asked that question to his associate that did all of his hand loading and he will know.

    Finally got a nice SW M-19 2 1/2 bbl

I had a 19-4, I bought (cheap), as it had been in a home that had a fire. Gun was in a gun rug, and got wet and forgotten about for a month or so. Has surface rust and just beginning to pit. Otherwise the gun was new and unfired. Cleaned it up and had a Metaloy finish put on, (leaving the...
