I found a similarly aged one on gun broker (# 927009087) that looks similar to me. Could they have been used later than conventionally thought?

This gun was made 1953 or 1954.

My understanding....The "pre" designation means that the model 23 when issued was based on this gun. They didn't start using model #'s until the late 50's??

Could a wise man, given good pictures, determine whether a proofmark was applied and then reblued? I'm thinking that the cylinder locking notches look to be below the blueing.

So, how do they shoot? I don't think that we have consummated the marriage.

Under the barrel, genius! That and the cylinder are all # matching. If the cylinder and/or barrel were replacements, they couldn't (?) have the BNP proof marks?

I'll do that, I posted it today and i know it's kinda rich for some.

It chambers38 special as the barrel says. Do you think that the rebluing would have caused the discoloration?

She's cute! :cool: That looks like it has similar light wear at the muzzle, or maybe it's the light.

A friend advised me $1,400 which may prove to be too high. The only real blue loss is very little at the muzzle, the glare is an issue. THANKS for your help.

Grips have stamped number not matching to gun. Thanks, are these any better?

I think that this was likely reblued, the cyl and ejector rod are an odd color and it has BNP proof marks? Any ideas? Lend lease maybe?
