One thing very interesting about your gun is the "barrel" shaped extractor rod knob. It's a pre war knob and a few were still seen on very early post war guns, the Transitional models.

Extractor rods from the period of your serial # is 1954-55 were all straight rods with the tip knurled.

I found a similarly aged one on gun broker (# 927009087) that looks similar to me. Could they have been used later than conventionally thought?

Although not a perfect photo, I still think it is pretty clear that that is a standard straight knurled tip rod correct for the period of this Outdoorsman. It does not appear to be the larger pre war knob used on the pre-war Outdoorsman Revolvers and early "Transitional" post war 38/44 Outdoorsman Revolvers.

With what appears to be edge/holster wear, incorrect grips (albeit nice and desirable pre-war standard grips), and photos that are not great, I would expect your revolver to sell in the $800 - $1,400 range, with the higher end of that range reserved for an auction type sales format where you get a couple of bidders who really want the gun.

Thank you, I was fooled by the original photos; it's not the barrel knob. It's the straight rod with just a knurled tip proper for that vintage.
