    external extractor 1911

I have a Colt 1911 government .45. When I first got it it ejected everywhere. Back, straight up, in to the slide below the ejection port, one got me right below the eye. It wasn't tension but rather the contour of the end that pulls the empty case back to hit the ejector. It took me a couple...

    Bought a Glock today

I just got a glock 19 gen 5 a couple of weeks ago. It aint my model 37 or 65 or Colt 1911 .45, but it has run flawlessly through 400 rounds and is as very accurate pistol. I like it. No malfunctions of any kind. Strange looking primer strikes though. Peace, Gordon

Glock 19 gen 5 odd looking primer strikes?

Never owned and shot a Glock and only one other 9mm, and that was a P38. They changed the profile on the end of the firing pin on the gen 5's and maybe that's it. They just look odd to me. Everything works fine and the gun is accurate. Do 9mm's just do this. It did it on PPU and Independence...

    My gift gun

An elderly man that I have known for a long time has me drive him to the doctor office about once a month. He has a bad back and they inject something in there. Last month I took him to the hospital for bladder cancer surgery. It went well. His wife cant drive or get around very well so I'm all...

    National Purple Heart Day?

I heard on TV something about National Purple Heart Day being today, the 7th. I didn't know about it until I got home from town. I went there to get my uncle's purple heart and distinguished service medals from WWII. I know that most of you folks are patriotic like me so I thought I'd share...

Revolver Sideplates / Internals - How Often, and best lubrication?

For me it depends on what I have subjected the gun to. I usually pull the side plate in the fall and spring. I carry mine 90% of the time in the summer and just about all the time in the winter. Since I do it that often, I just make sure it is clean and lightly oiled with a good gun oil or 3 in...

Guns I wish I still had!!

Here is a couple pics of me and a couple of the many gun rigs I had back in the early 50's. I never realized how big those bullets were in the pic with the horse. What caliber do you think they were? I remember the heavy recoil for sure. :D Peace, Gordon

I think I just need to retire and go live in the woods

I am retired and I live in the woods. I have always lived in the woods but only retired in 2012. Born and raised in the woods. Ain't never had no desire to live in the city. I feel kinda sorry for those that do. Just too many people. I didn't know that a person is a certain race that has...

    It's exhausting riding with a 95yo driver

I drive an elderly friend to the doctor now and then when he gets a shot in his lower spine for some reason. We usually take his truck and I often wonder if I scare him like that. He don't ever complain though. I used to love driving but now not so much. Peace, gordon

What would be your choice for EDC semi

Colt Government 1911 in .45 full size. 1000's of trouble free rounds, but that is only if I have to carry a semi. Otherwise it's a model 37 .38 airweight. Peace, Gordon

Element of your Concealed Carry equipment?

Well........... When I used to have a cell phone, it didn't take pics. No camera. It was a tracfone and would not get any reception unless you were standing right under a tower. My son has a cell phone, a smart phone and his bill is around 200 a month. I don't want to spend that much. I...

    J-Frame Carry Round....38-special or 9mm and Why?

My only J frame is a model 37 '68 vintage 1 7/8 barrel round butt. I have never shot anything but standard pressure LRN factory ammo in it because of the alloy frame. It has the original numbered grips and is a pleasure to shoot with these rounds. Kind of like an acoustic guitar in the sense...
