Yes, just make sure you get metal, not plastic; the gas block will melt the front sight if you use plastic. I started out with UTG folding sights on mine. They work well. I liked iron sights so well, that I purchased Daniel Defense sights and forsook the red dot. I'm good out to nearly 100 yds...

What is the mark to the left of the serial number on an M&P pistol?

It turned out that I was pressing the sear deactivation lever too far on my shield. I now just flip it out into the magazine well without pressing firmly down and all works well.

I have to pull the trigger on mine because if I use the sear deactivation lever I can't get the slide to come off. I tried pulling up on the slide as I read in one post, but it was to no avail.

My shield seems to prefer 124g, NATO or 124g. +P better than 115g. I've never tried 147g.

It is easy to clean the striker channel. Check youtube for videos. I would do that before sending it back. I had this happen to me with a brand new pistol, not a Smith, and it solved the problem; the striker channel was full of gunk. Good luck and please post your resolution.

I personally like the safety. Practice flipping off the safety while unholstering until it becomes muscle memory. Good luck with your decision and enjoy the 45ACP.

I'm not surprised, I shoot my Shield better than I did with a G19 or G26. I like the trigger better on my Shield.

I use a Versacarry leather holster. It is an OWB, conceals very well. Can not beat the quality or price.
