Why not a .45 for LEOs

I see .45's in use all over the place. The hand size issue is big. I can't shoot the Glock M21 very well unless in slow deliberate fire. I was issued one, told the chief I couldn't shoot it. A trip to the target range showed him. On the way back we ordered a Glock M17 (the .40 didn't exist...

    +P Through a Model 12: THE TEST...is done!!!!

Saxon, I will most likely use my last box of Federal 158 gr. +P Nyclad. I use it in several guns now. It was a good load and it is too bad Federal stopped making it. The M12 I just bought is a very fine carry gun. As the weather cools I can wear a coat, which means I add a belt gun to the...

    +P Through a Model 12: THE TEST...is done!!!!

M12 use Moondawg and others, My thing with the M12 is it is a nice looking and feeling packing piece. I rarely shoot my everyday use guns, but practice, and recently started IDPA, with an all steel M19-4". It is the first K-frame alloy frame gun I ever bought. I carried many J-frame guns...

    19-5 2.5 inch round butt-Range Report added 8-12

Great gun. In the early '70s I had one, and wish I still did. In those days the performance ammo was very unrefind. I bought one and on the way home I stopped along a dark road and fired 2 round of 110 gr. Super-Vel .357. I lost my night vision for several minutes due to the huge bright...

does a man really need a .22 caliber revolver?

In regards to a .22 revolver. Although it is nice to have one around, I no longer keep a .22 LR. I found the early M18-4" was a great shooting weapon, but it is heavy. The M63 was a nice carry gun for camping, but between three of them I had none would shoot as well as the heavy M18 and I...

USAF SPs on Kadena AB, Japan

Well, I never carried a M15 in the service. We had M1911A1 .45's. But it reminded me of a patrolman I worked with in 1971-75. He had been an AP and used the M15. When he started with us, he bought one for duty. We all had to buy our gear in thoses days. He could shoot quite well. I used a...

    +P Through a Model 12: THE TEST...is done!!!!

I have to question why bother to try +P since it doesn't do all that much more then a good standard velocity HP. Now I have to admit I like +P for my M642. My favorite load seems to have been pulled from production. I have hoarded Federal Nyclad 158 gr. LHP in both std. and +P, but I am...

    +P Through a Model 12: THE TEST...is done!!!!

M12 I know this is long after you made your post on the M12 with +P ammo. I just bought a 4" SQ. butt in NIB condition. Curious about it, I wrote to S&W and they said NO +P. My revolver is D657XXX so I assume it is '73-'74 based on your sample. I located a M12-4" ROUND BUTT, this afternoon...

    Help - lightweight revolver M13

My model 12 looks like it was held in reserve stock at a metro department. All the papers, no cleaning rod and brush. An aggravation is holsters for the skinny tube models are hard to find. The lugged barrel K's and L-frames get holsters without the need for a custom being made to really fit.

    Help - lightweight revolver M13

My book shows a S&W M56 - 2", built 15,205 in 1963 only. "U.S." only on backstrap. Big prices up to $7,500 (NIB). I suspect any on the market were diverted from plane crews. Our aircrews carried S&W M15 Combat masterpieces up to the first gulf war. My brother in law carried one into...

    M12 2" vs Colt Cobra?

You guys are making me feel bad. I just bought a NIB condition M12 - 4" and now it sounds like I shouldn't use it. I love the K-frames in 3" - 4". This is my first M12, the weight and NO key safety, pushed me to trade a M60 - .357 - 2.125" (NIB) for it. I lost money on the M60, but it was...
