I have a Model 23 and it is not that; also, a Yukon Skinner and it's not that either. I go with Alaskan Skinner!
Mule Packer knows his Randalls.
Either way, a wonderful knife. I've done a couple of elk and numerous wild pigs and deer with my #23 and my #8 Bird and Trout!
Have had several .32 and .380. I liked the Colt Pocket the best. Wife had a Bersa Thunder and it was surprisingly well-made. For the cost, we got a .22 for practice and a .380 for her to carry.
I also liked the H & K H4 (mine was .32) and the Walther PP (also in .32).
As an aside, we ended...
Never watched the show (I once met Costner and he's an a--). Just gave my last lever action to my daughter and SIL (an 1892 short rifle take-down in 38-40), along with a custom Vaquero converted to 38-40. Both case-hardened and engraved.
I once had a conversation with Massood about FTF in small Glocks (G43) and he advised me that lighter bullets may cycle the slide too fast, causing stove-piping. He recommended using 147s in the lighter pistols.
Don't say what kind of deer= a HUGE difference between a Montana or Wyoming mulie and a Coues deer in AZ or a coastal blacktail.
For mulies (what I've hunted), I'd use the Underwood!
I'm getting up in years, so I'm taking a few bequeaths on vacation. Nephew gets my #1 and my brother gets the gamemaster.
Rather they go to someone in the family rather than get sold after I'm gone!
Don't hunt anymore but I have skinned many an animal with Randall Knives; small game to big bull elk. I've had Models 18, 23, 1, 8, Lil Beaver, Yukon Skinner and maybe one or two others.
Had a Colt SAA in 32-20 but it never grabbed me. Always preferred 38-40 or 45 Colt in revolvers. Also, had several 41 LC.
Bear guns are: 454 Casull, 45 Colt or 41 mag (wife).
All of my carry guns are (1) Glocks (EDC) or (2) Single actions (woods guns). My primary EDC is a G27 modified for 357 SIG. Shoot it every time we go to the range with both practice ammo and carry ammo.
Colt's are nice but you are paying for the name and finish. The Single-Six is by far the better gun.
I had both at the same time and always carried the Ruger.
Price wise: Not great but a fair price!
