For 20 years I carried a Kimber compact 1911. After testing it to make sure it ran, I only shot it a couple of times after that. (To be sure, I regularly stripped, wiped and lubed it). I was a total 1911 guy back then, and had full size 1911s for range guns.

Now that's gone, and I carry a G19, which I've been shooting frequently at the range.

So:

How many of us are in the first camp, and how many the second?

After vetting my carry gun...I rarely shoot it...but do occasionally.

I have a second, (older), version of the same gun I use for training and qualifications with the sheriff's office.

Either one would be suitable for carry, but only one gets the majority of the mileage.

Anytime I head to the range I bring my EDC and usually go through the mags after I swap out the rounds, clean, re-load and rotate.

All of my carry guns are (1) Glocks (EDC) or (2) Single actions (woods guns). My primary EDC is a G27 modified for 357 SIG. Shoot it every time we go to the range with both practice ammo and carry ammo.

My main EDC is my 1.0 M&P 40c .357 SIG conversion. Pre-plague, I shot it once or twice a month. It currently has 16,000 rounds through it. My secondary EDC is my Shield 45. I carry it when I want to go "light". It has only 8,000 rounds through it. I am clearly in the second camp.

My most commonly carried pistol is a 3913.
I have two of them, and between them I have logged 6,000 rounds between them

My duty, back up, and off duty gun (along with rifle and shotgun) go out for training at least quarterly. Inspected and cleaned at least once a month, and PM'd annually. Add in a lot of dry fire in between, and I'm an instructor, so add in 2-3 extra sessions each quarter that I'm teaching the class and demonstrating the training drills.

My personal shooting has been lacking lately due to the ammo prices and component shortages, but hopefully that picks back up soon too

Been shooting monthly cas matches with some pre match practice so I am shooting. I usually use double action revolvers but last month's was a wild bunch match. Afraid that I haven't shot my edc j frame in a long time. Do dry fire it regularly though.

I try and put a couple cylinders through my 640 with each range trip. I'm usually shooting .357 anyway and have the 640 with me already.

Carry is a 642 snub. Beyond testing for function, I see no real need to practice with it regularly. I have a duplicate 642 and an old worn beater 442 that I primarily use for training purposes.

I try to get to my range at least once a week. I have a rather large number of firearms to choose from on these trips, so I try to break it down to say ".44 mag revolver day", or ".30 cal battle rifle day", "1911 day", ect. The common denominator is I am always carrying my primary carry gun (Now a Sig 365) on me, and always put at least a couple magazine fulls thru the gun. When I first got the gun, I put about 600 rounds thru it for familiarity and to verify function before it became my daily carry.
