    California CCW permit

I've read (on the internet ) that some counties (Sacramento and El Dorado for starters) have pro ccw sheriffs. A person that doesn't have any criminal arrests can get a permit by stating that they need to carry for self defense. I live in Contra Costa County and that is not the case here.

    .308 in a 30/06?

.308 in an 06 A few years ago my son and I were at the rifle range. He accidentally loaded a .308 round into my 30.06 It shot fine and it hit the target down-range. When he went to extract the casing the bolt was stiff. I had to work a little to get the newly formed casing out. It looked odd...

    M&P or Glock?

Glock or M&P I have a Glock Model 22 (full size .40 ) and a M&P 40c (.40 compact ) The grip on the M&P does feel a little better though I can't say that it makes any difference when shooting. The trigger on the Glock is a little better, not a big difference there either. The Glock is a...

New 629 broke first time out

S&W Issues in 1981 I purchased my first handgun. A S&W model 19. 1st trip to the range the cylinder locked up tight, like yours. I took it back to the shop where I bought it and they sent it back to S&W. They said it had gotten "out of time" Thousands of rounds later, no more issues. I gave it...

    "A Sense of Evil"

6th sense I have had my"6th sense" talk to me a few times. Once, many years back I was on a deer hunting trip. I'd got a buck on Sunday and most of our family hunting party went home that afternoon. Tony had not got a deer and was going to stay for 2 more days so I decided to stay and camp with...

    M&P 45 or 9mm

Accuracy I have a Glock Model 22, .40 S&W and a Colt Commander 1911 .45. At 25 yards shooting slow fire off hand on a good day I get about 6" groups with my Glock, 4" groups with my Colt. Both are pretty much as they came new. I'm sure the only real difference in accuracy is the trigger. You...

    California's latest handgun lunacy!

Ca. gun laws I agree with 27145, I live in No. Calif. I would never carry an unloaded gun. To me that is like saying " see my nice gun, show me your loaded gun and you can have my empty one" That said, I hate to more restrictive gun laws but I'm not going to lose sleep over this one.

Is buying guns a viable savings plan?

Investing in guns I figure money spent buying guns is at least as good as good as money in a savings account. I do intend to sell some for a profit, someday.

Ca. gun laws As much as the city of San Francisco would like to change it, State laws apply. There are no gun laws specific to San Francisco.

    FFL Fees

Here in California (where a lot of things cost a lot more) the local gun shop charges $100.00 plus .$25.00 fpr DROS. I'm using a "Kichen Table" dealer that is charging $50.00 plus DROS.

    Dislike of televised sporting events

Pro sports I live in Northern Ca. I became a SF 49er fan back in the Bill Walsh,Joe Montana,Roger Craig etc. era. When I was kid everyone around here were Raider fans. I got over that quickly when Al Davis moved them to LA in the middle of the night. I root for the SF Giants, last year I...
