Just wanted to add another +1 for Remington Thunderbolt. It is very accurate in all of my Rugers (handguns and 10/22). My theory is that the soft lead bullet fills the rifling better than most plated bullets. It is also in the "sweet spot" for velocity. I find that the 50-round boxes shoot...

That is a good story and is the key. One must have a defensive weapon that they can quickly and competently use when the need arises. Caliber matters little if one cannot get it into action and hit the target quickly.

I agree. Get a Ruger 10/22 for a family plinker. Many variations to choose from and spend the extra money on quality ammo and a few extra $9 mags.
