Setting the record straight on New Classic S&W M27 & M29 (a futile attempt)...

Huh?!?! Are you suggesting new S&W's are Chinese made replica's of older S&W models???? That would be like saying the S&W 29-2 is a knock off replica of the 29-1 or that the Model 27 was a knock off replica of the "Registered Magnum". Scratching my head on this comment...

The use of machines is to improve quality while the lack of skilled labor decreases all while simultaneously having to be competitive and profitable in a market place flooded with other revolver manufacturers foreign and domestic. People like to think that back in the day Smith and Wesson's...

Setting the record straight on New Classic S&W M27 & M29 (a futile attempt)...

Can't wait! Going to the range Saturday with the M27 to see how well it can tame the hottest of the 357 loads. I've heard good things about the N Frame M27 in that regard. However, the M29 with some 305gr or 320gr 44mag rounds....whoa! It's a lot of fun but gloves are necessary if you don't...

STOP EVERYONE from comparing any commodity product to a high precision tool like a S&W revolver!!! Any commodity product will be **** because the only market driver is reduced cost and increased marketing. This is because they know people have to have (insert commodity here) and the average...

Setting the record straight on New Classic S&W M27 & M29 (a futile attempt)...

No clue but I wouldn't assume they have the same internals because they are both N frames. I have to call S&W tomorrow anyway so I'll be sure to ask. But definitely two completely different actions but the same same frame. I mean completely different and I've had now 3 different people try them...

Just picked up the S&W 27-9 and it beautiful!!!! The trigger pull and action are butter smooth and so much lighter/nicer than my 29-10. I guess that makes sense being a 357 vs 44. Enjoy, Chris

Let's all just agree to appreciate S&W for what it is...the best today and the best yesterday. Also, good info on the oil. I can't say that I'm knowledgable on that topic. We are getting off topic... I can only speak for my personal vehicle but I swear there is no mention of oil rating...Google...

Setting the record straight on New Classic S&W M27 & M29 (a futile attempt)...

Couple of things: 1. I was wrong to say the 27-9 is discontinued. Production stopped back in September but no word if that is for good or not. 2. I just checked my owners manual in my 2014 Ford Fusion (best American car ever!!!) and it doesn't specify synthetic but the change interval is up to...

Good info! I figured there had to be more to the frame mounted firing pins since they were made that way up to 80's.

I could totally make a forged MIM-pattern part...I just don't think there is a market. Personally, I don't think the difference in look between the two is night and day as some have suggested. I honestly can't tell the difference unless the two styles are next to each other. Anyway, the cost...

Quick side question because everyone has mentioned the MIM trigger and hammer looking "ugly" compared to forged parts....is there a place on the internet where one could purchase a forged hammer and trigger for an N Frame S&W?!?! If not I'll have to tool up my buddies CNC and start making them...

Here, here! Great comment!!!! Every company has to make a product people can afford and they all have to walk that line. Eliminating unnecessary components doesn't reduce quality if the process to manufacture the product increases the quality simultaneously. I'm sure S&W will move away from MIM...

The S&W 27-9 should arrive this Wednesday that I recently purchased on GunBroker for $900 NIB as my girlfriends Christmas present. It will be her first handgun. She loved shooting my 29-10 (44 Specials) but I figured she'd enjoy shooting the Model 27 even more due to the reduced recoil of 38/357...

My S&W M29-10 photos...Notice I have lead buildup on both ends of the cylinder that I need to clean up from shooting hand loaded wadcutters that aren't the cleanest in the world. About 1300rds shot through it already and its only 3 months old. Lovin' it! What a workhorse and enjoyable tool to...

Setting the record straight on New Classic S&W M27 & M29 (a futile attempt)...

Yea, that's strange...My 29-10 didn't have any type of haze like that. Take an pink school eraser (like the ones we used back in school) to it and see if it comes off. I get lead build up on the cylinder nearest to the forcing cone after about 500rds and have to use the eraser to scrub it off.

Quality, consistency and costumer service are the priority of S&W. Cost reduction is reduced in several other ways. Time=money so if they can save time then they save money using CNC's and save money with producing less parts that have to be rejected due to quality issues. I promise there is...

Setting the record straight on New Classic S&W M27 & M29 (a futile attempt)...

Sad news to report....S&W has officially discontinued the Model 27 Classic as of 9/4/2014. There will be no more 27-9's produced in both the 6.5" and 4" variations. They also discontinued the S&W Model 29-10 4" barrel variant but the 6.5" will continue to be manufactured for now. Until the...

Rhetorical question...? I'm done. I hope the point was made at some point in this thread regarding newer manufactured S&W revolvers vs the older models.
