Isn't that part spot welded to the slide after the slide is machined? I've seen slides where those have come off due to sloppy welding. If I remember correctly, that is a cosmetic only part and not under any battering or stress. Of course, as I age, I forget things....

With the 1911 and other SA semis, you can get a second strike by cocking the hammer. You don't have to rack the slide, which is a good feature.

I own the new release and like it a lot. I've read of mag related issues but have not had those problems myself. I'd buy one at $300. The $100 rebate makes it a no-brainer. $200 for an alloy framed, single stack CCW in 9mm is too good to pass up, IMO. The take down and reassembly is different...

Beautiful gun! I prefer the palm swell grips. I also like wood with my steel. I love my 1086

My 1086 isn't going anywhere. With 1660 made it will only go up in value no matter what the book says. Also, it is a great shooter and a good looker as well. Win/win.

I like to have enough mags to keep approx 50 rounds (a full box) loaded for range duty. So, my CZ PCR (14 rounds) I have 4 mags (56). My 1911 I have 6 mags (8 count) for 48 total. My 10 round mags I have 5, etc. I try to keep it close to 50 because it works for me.

I picked it up today and put 50 rounds thru it. Very nice gun. 100% function and more accurate then I am. I also field stripped it without a problem after watching a few youtube videos. Very, very nice gun for the money.

I just purchased a nice S&W Model 422. The serial# is TBD55xx. Any idea of the approx mfg date? Also, I am new to this model S&W. Any facts or info from anyone who owns or owned one? Thanks.
