I picked up the 30" barrel so I could go skeet shooting but Im now realizing it is full choke. My only other barrel is the 18" police barrel. Will the 30" be ok for skeet? I read that it is optimum at 40 yards. Im not even sure how far skeet are shot.

A 30 inch full choke is a duck-goose barrel.
Skeet barrels are usually shorter, like 26 inches and open choke, like cylinder.
Of the two, I would use the open choke 18.

I agree.

Your really handicapping yourself with a full choke, but any birds you do hit will totally disintegrate!:D

Just for the heck of it I shot skeet with 2 different short barrel 20” 12 gauge shot guns. They both were considered "slug guns" and had cylinder bore chokes. The stations closer to where the birds comes out will be the easiest but you can hit on all stations.

I shot registered skeet (4 gauges NSSA) for years and had the right guns for the game, it will make a difference. FWIW the first few skeet rounds I shot back in the late 60s was with a Ithaca model 37 pump 12 full choke. I like the game and got a dedicated skeet gun within a month.

It will work for handicap trap,if you really want to dust them.Try a 26" choked improved cylinder or skeet #1.

The 18" !! Only way it will work out for Skeet..........

That 30" FULL will work for birds at 35 yards to 65 yards with
#8's and 7 1/2's for past 50 yards for better breaks.

The full choke will not work too well for D&G with the STEEL pellet Reg's for todays hunting.......... but there is Upland birds.
