S&W M76 Submachine Gun!

This is me with one of the three M-76's from the film The Omega Man.

Where's the 5 cell Eveready flashlight Neville had attached to it?

I have a MK760 which is a clone gun of the SW-76. It was having trouble extracting cases --problem was a worn extractor and extractor spring. Replaced them both from Scott Andrey Machine Shop and now it runs like a sewing machine. It has a much higher cyclic rate over the Swedish-K so it doesn't take long to burn through a 36 round magazine. Featured in a lot of movies made in the 70's , "The Omega Man" "Magnum Force" and "The Taking of Pelham 123"

I was watching the film "We own the night" with Robert Duvall, it is a an NYPD movie set in the late 80's. Some of the NYPD Emergency Services Unit members are carrying M-76's.

I have had the privilege of examining and shooting both a S&W76 and an MK760. The MK760 was one of those made in Southern California. I thought the welding and other workmanship on the MK760 was better than the S&W76. I wouldn't mind having either, but my son insists that the next gun I get is either a Thompson or an M60. Sure, just as soon as he gives me $30,000 as a down payment.

In case anyone might be interested, on the Las Vegas Armslist site, someone just put am MK 760 submachinegun for sale. Fully transferable, with 4 magazines. He is asking $5,000.00

getting a letter?

Anyone ever get one of these model 76s lettered from Roy?. Would it even be worth it? Im interested in getting one lettered, assuming its the same process as other firearms.

The S&W76 is a great subgun. Smooth, reliable and easy to handle (minus the 25lb trigger.) I'm fortunate enough to own a 1971 example that I typically run suppressed with an Octane 9. It's very quiet and even smoother with a suppressor - sounds similar to a loud typewriter.
