Default How long before FPC….

With FLEXMAG? I would think this would be the natural progression of this rifle. It’s the only reason I haven’t purchased one. Now that KelTec has the Gen 3, sub 2000 with rotating bbl, so optics and flashlights can be mounted with out an offset, S&W needs to step up with a FPC with FLEXMAG.

Why? What’s wrong with the M&P mags? Mine all function great.

No Issue. I’ve got an M&P FS and a dozen magazines, but I like the idea of using 33 round Glock mags also.

I personally don't see it happening at all.
S&W doesn't want to build a carbine to take all your Glock mags, they want you to buy an M&P 2.0 to go with your FPC.
If they did have any plans to accomodate other mags, the grip would have been more modular.

And 75% of all PCCs are glock compatible anyways.

I got a gen 2 SUB2k that takes Beretta mags, it has it's flaws but what it does, it does well, no issues. But side by side the FPC is a different animal, not as compact but worlds better in terms of ergonomics.

When I bought my FPC I had no doublestack M&P mags, just Shield mags in .380, 9mm & .45. That did not keep me from buying the FPC.

Maybe a better question is: Why hasn't Glock come out with a 9mm carbine? They make fine pistols too. Everytime a new PCC rolls out the first 10 questions are always 'Does it take Glock mags?'.

S&W were smart enough to build a fine folding carbine, so S&W got my money.

Remember who made the first AR Based pistol cartridge carbine and it did not use glock mags or maybe your just fixated on what used my most toy buys today or need to look it up . PCC do go back in history long before glock was around and history save iut started with a level action carbine .

Some of use do not even care to own a glock and care even less if glock makes a pcc . ha

Nothing wrong with M&P mags except that nobody makes a cheap and reliable 9mm 33-rounder like they do for Glocks.

Glock mags are stupid cheap. I like weird guns so on a whim I picked up a Rock Island STK 100 last year, a metal Glock with a better grip angle. It came with one mag, but when I researched Glock mags I found this wasn't going to be a problem. I was staggered at the low prices. Sometimes you can get Glock mags at half what it would cost to buy mags for a Sig or FN. The price difference is less for M&Ps, but still substantial.

Not sure what the S&W 23 round mags cost, but I can and have bought 17 rounders for $22-26 bucks. A 33 OEM mag would be nice, but don’t see Smith having one.

All that said, the KelTec Sub 2000, Gen 3, just hit the market and IMHO is a game changer. With the rotating bbl, you no longer require an off-set to install a scope, light or other Optic and get full fold ability, like the S&W.

I will wait to,see the reviews, as I never liked the recoil impulse of the Sub2000’s, as compared to the FPC. Even though both are blowback design the FPC shoots softer. They say the Gen3 KelTec’s recoil is improved. We shall see.

ultra45 Guess you should be carrying a glock handgun to carry so you can have your pick of glock mag carbines to pick from like the KT you seem to think so highly of !

I don’t discriminate, own GLOCKS, SMITHS, RUGERS, etc. The FPC is a nice firearm. S&W would sell a lot more if they had magazine compatibility, IMHO.

Since the mid ‘70’s, I’ve mostly carried a 1911 everyday, exception being my time “On the Job” where revolvers ruled, until semi autos were approved. Then it was S&W 5946 and GLOCK 19. Retired and back to the 1911’s, for the most part.

Capacity, especially when I was off duty and now retired, is not a requirement for me. Im happy with 7 or 8 plus 1 and often carry (like this week) my old off duty S&W M-36, with a speed strip in the pocket.
