mp15-22 serial number thread / What SN's have the known issues?

I believe mine is a DTH-, and I've only had the ammo hanging up in the clip problem... is that what FTF means? (fail to feed? or is that fail to fire?) I've had this 8 times out of 200 rounds fired between CCI and Federal. I guess I don't know if this is excessive or normal.

Phil mentioned someone said theirs' still does this after getting it back from S&W, so is that something that isn't fixable? Or it is indeed the magazine? I've been taking extra time loading them quite slowly and believe I'm doing it correctly, per the pictures in the loading thread, and the manual.

DTBXXXX series number. No issues whatsoever. > 2500 rounds without one single misfire, FTF or FTE. Cleaned rifle every 500 rounds or so.

Is there a predictable pattern as to S&W's serial numbering sequence?

Is it safe to assume that a DTA or DTB unit came off the line some time before one bearingf DTE or DTH?

I get about that many out of a box of 550 Fed Value Pack. But it's not consistent. I might go through 100-200 rounds without any problems, then get 2 or 3 from the next hundred.

As far as excessive or normal... I'd say.... It's not uncommon for the 15-22 to malfuntion at that excessive level.

DTD5....

250 rounds of CCI - no problem!!!

30 rounds of Winchester - lost extractor!!!

Emailed S&W a request for return authorization today. Waiting for reply.

I have dth and it's going back. Had failure to feed issues once in about every magazine. The round would be caught between the chamber and the bolt when extacted the round has a huge dent rt in the middle. Used cci standard velocity-federal bulk. And yes I loaded the rounds perfectly. Also had a few fte's with remington ammo the first time out. I know remington bulk is junk but, in my opinion it should cycle perfectly. I'm sending it out in hopes that it resolves the issue. Like fyfish said, I'll sleep better.

I havent seen dtu on this thread yet. I will add results of mine this weekend.

Add mine to the list......It's currently boxed and ready to ship back to s&w for an AWOL extractor.

I'm just waiting for the return label.

Serial #: DTU5***
Threaded barrel model.

DTH - 10k rounds with no ejection problems or lite strikes, but does have mag-snags= 1/100

DTWxxx and have so far had zero problems. Even shooting Remmington Golden Bullets!

Looks like i'm the first DTW on here.

Mine's DTM4***. No problems - only put 100 rounds thru it so far but they were without incident. Ammo was Wallyworld bulk, Winchester and Federal. This one shipped in Nov. 09.
