So I've been thinking how hard would it be to make a conversion kit to shoot the .22 WMR? I mean barrel diameter is exactly the same, I can actually fit magnum rounds in the magazine, they are just about 1/2" longer, any chance this gun will be popular enough for manufactures to make conversion kits for them? Should be much easier than the ar15 22 conversion kits they have. Simple bolt swap and maybe a new magazine ?

.22LR rounds barely fit in the M&P15-22 magazine. The only way to get .22WM in there would be to stand them point up. ;)

I could only hope and wish for a M&P with a caliber between .22 and 5.56.

a 17hmr would be all over it.

Yeh, i couldn't wait to see the OOB firing's with .17HMR's! I hope they get it on video.
Never happen tho. They have already had issues with semi auto rifles and HMR's and it was OOB issues iirc.

I would jump on a .22 mag offering in this rifle. Seems like it is possible once they get the bugs all worked out of the .22 lr version. Although, my MP22 has been problem free so far.

What's the allure of .22 Magnum again?

I'm seeing .22 Magnum at prices from $104 - $120 for 500. I bought 3330 rounds of .22LR for $108 (delivered) back in January.

Heck I can buy Wolf 5.56mm for $150/500.

I'd rather see a rifle or upper in .17 Mach 2. Except for the higher ammo cost, that would do nasty things to Mr. Squirrel. Same magazine and maybe the same weight bolt. Hopefully the only change would be the recoil spring.

Id have to agree with you, Id love a .17M2 conversion for this gun. I dont find the cost of the .17M2 that bad since i own a .17HMR and $14 for 50 rounds isnt cheap. But a bolt action and 5 round mag really helps slow you down.

Also to correct my previous post, It does seem Volquartsen is making several semi auto .17hmr's that is if you can afford starting prices at $1000 and up too $2300+
But they make very high quality stuff so i see no reason to say its not worth it.
