I am going to make my own out of PVC pipe, my question is ..do I need a 3/4" ID or a 1" ID pipe? On the sticky, one link says 3/4" and the other says 1"

Thanks

3/4 ID is correct. (PVC SCHED 40) Follow DIY link at top of Sticky. Link is correct.

Brett248Vista - Check blueprint data link at bottom of Sticky.

Thanks, I just bought two lengths of 3/4" :D

Just in case I screw up on one of them.

I also picked up a 9/16" 3/8 socket to JB weld in the other end.
Total price invested so far = $1 for ea length of pvc and 2.97 for the socket, I already have the JB Weld = $4.97
Now I just need to cut the 2 ft. length down and notch the end for the nut

Looks good.

I didn't cut the 4 tabs exactly even on my first try so it would not engage the nut :o. I cut off two tabs and it worked fine. I just turned the PVC by hand and the nut came loose easy. Good luck.

Be very careful when tightening the nut, Make sure its level and even pressure is applied.
I ripped the nubs off mine on my first try and i used locktite so it started to dry by the time i could cut new nubs.

As for a handle i just drilled a hole threw the side so i could stick a long screw driver threw the handle and turn it.

Also for me for some reason i had to grind in inside diameter a bit to get the wrench started over the nut. Possibly my pvc was warped or something, But just mentioning it if anyone has issues getting the pipe over the nut.

I was thinking about doing that too, but decided to try the socket instead.

Thanks for all the help. I will finish it up later this week. It is Turkey season here in NY now and I am after them in a big way this year!!

Good luck with the PVC. I made one that fit perfectly on the barrel nut and the barrel nut was on so tight it just broke when I tried to turn it.

When you guys remove the barrel what are you using to hold the rifle still ? I've read some use a tool to hold the barrel and that it's not recommended to hold the upper or lower as they could be damged.
