I keep hearing about having the springs replaced in the gun. What is the deal with that? i bought mine back in September of 2009.

The blue springs are updated springs which include the bolt return spring and trigger springs. I'm not sure when S&W switched to the blue springs but at some point they did. Some people, including me, have had issues with excessive FTE. It is my thinking that the spring rate in the original springs was to stiff causing the bolt not to cycle strong enough to eject the spent casing. I believe the blue springs have a different spring rate making it easier for the bolt to cycle and the ejector/extractor to do there jobs. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

There is a video on youtube about adjusting the ejector to fix the FTE problem and it works for many guns. It did not work for mine. My gun was having a FTE about forty percent of the time. It is my understanding that if you send your gun in for a warranty repair they will replace the springs with the new updated "blue springs". That is what they did for my rifle and it has been flawless is almost a 1000 rounds since it's return.

If you aren't having any problems with your rifle then you shouldn't worry about it.
