Default Removing Flash Suppressor on Mp1522 Threaded?

Ive had my mp1522 about 3 months now, it supposed to have a threaded barrel but when i try to remove the flash suppressor it wont budge.

I tried left and right, still no dice, dont want to put too much force on it before i find out if im missing anything?

Dont see a pin anywhere, is it just that tight? What is a good technique of taking it off?

This is the rifle i have.

You need barrel vice jaws... You chuck the barrel up in a vice, using the jaws. The suppressor is a right handed thread. Lefty Loosey..

you do not need a barrel vice to get a flash hider off... timing a flash hider is easier with a barrel vice.... but set down and use your legs to gold the entire length of the rifle.. get an extra set of hands if you can.. put the wrench on the flash hider and use a hammer to slap the wrench and it will release and spin right off...

Brett,

I say they need a set of vice jaws because there is the outside chance that they may twist the barrel right out of the receiver, the only thing that lines it all up is the two metal flanges on the sides of the chamber and the plastic grooves in the upper receiver. And I surely won't be the one taking fire from someone who kept hoarking on something until it broke and then comes on the forums and says "You told me I could do this!"

Just saying... I am getting way too conservative these days

Brett, I'm with you. Using a "hammer to slap the wrench" doesn't sound like a good idea. The force impulse from doing such may free the flash suppressor, but I wouldn't want to take a chance on over stressing the polymer receiver with such a force impulse. The right set of vice jaws to use on the barrel is the way to go, IMO.

Barrel blocks are the proper way. Gripping the receiver between your knees puts forces on many items that may not take it, like the plastic upper receiver.

Im Not saying to beat on it but a light tap won't hurt a thing.. usually all it takes is a light tap and they will spin free.. it puts a lot less pressure on gthe reciever than he has allready put... think of it like an impact gun and a tire. If you try and take a tire off with a wrench you have to leave the car on the ground because the tq will spin it.. but with an impact gun you can jack the car up and pop them loose

Is the shortcut you provided where you bought the rifle? If it is, you may have a welded or pinned flash hider. Does anybody know for sure if PA. has that old law about flash hiders not being able to be removed?
If it for sure is not welded or pinned, get some barrel jaws and remove the flash hider.
If your looking from the chamber end and the wrench is sticking out to the right, push down to loosen. If your looking from the muzzle end and the wrench is sticking out to the right, push up to loosen.

Ok, I have a question. I myself will need to do this soon, as I have ordered a fake supressor for my 15 22. What gets my attention is the guy sent me a email AFTER I had paid for it, telling me that it was a female thread. Yet the listing/auction said "fits any 1/2 28 threaded barrel" If not not mistaken, isnt the barrel aslo a female thread? If so Im just **** out of luck then huh?

Some target rifles with bull barrels have female threads. But the 15-22 does not have a bull barrel option yet.

Any muzzle device that will fit the M16/AR15 will fit the M&P 15-22 with the threaded barrel.

I'm still trying to visualize a female threaded muzzle...
