After a few trips to the range and desert with this sub $40 Red/Green-dot I can finally vouch for it. If you are looking for an in-expensive red dot solution I totally recommend this one. I am at around the 2000 round marker with it and have not had a single problem. Holds zero even through transport in a soft case and doing 100 yard sprint run-n-guns. Clicks for windage and elevation are crisp and uniform (only downside is you need a penny or flat head to adjust / can't do by hand). Got it to co-whitness perfectly with a cheap UTG 1/2 riser. 1 MOA dot with 5 levels of brightness for both Red and Green. So far still running on original battery. I'm a very happy camper, especially after the problems I had with the Barska electro/reflex one I started with. Anyone had problems with any Leapers stuff?

Here is a pic of one of my better 5 shot groups using this optic off of sandbags both eyes open...

And a sad attempt of getting a pic down the sight. This is with the Red dot on the lowest power setting (1 out of 5). It looks a lil off but thats do to me not having the camera lined up well.

I had one of these up until last week when I got a scope. The thing was money though. I have zero complaints for the cost.

I tend to alternate between using the Red Dot and a 3-9x scope. I keep the scope on for nabbing squirrels and varmints then swith to the dot when I go and run drills for offensive/defensive shooting practice and squad partolling stuff with my buddies. I'll usually go like 3/4 the day using the 15-22 then do the last few drills using the AR just to save money on ammo. I try to make sure .223 is the last thing I shoot to kinda re-acclimate to the recoil.

I have the same one also. Got it on sale at amazon for $28 shipped. I only have about 500 rds in my 15-22, half with the leapers r/g dot, and have nothing bad to say.

Can someone link me to the riser that is needed to cowitness this with the iron sights. I am making an order from Midway and can't find it.

You made me a happy camper also.
I went out and bought the same set up you have.
Thanks for the info.

That is exactly what I'm looking for.

Can you adjust the dot size?

I've got a pair of 15-22's to trick out. Plinkers is all they'll be so I'm trying to keep the cost reasonble.

Its a 1 MOA dot. You cannot change the size but you can increase the brightess which 'kinda' has the same effect making it more prominent in your peripheral vision. The picture I have posted is with the Dot on the lowest/dimmest setting out of 5 brightness settings. When you crank it up all the way to 5 its pretty bright.

Here are a couple other pics I took with the dots at 1 and 5 brightness. I didnt post them originally because the way the camera pics up the bright dots its not an accurate representation of how it really looks with it turned up. Either my crappy camera or my crappy photography skills makes the bright dot look a lot bigger than it really looks to the naked eye.

Scuds,

Thank you a ton. Those pics help me in a lot of ways.

Can you give me the model of your scope?

Also, did it come with the rail mount or did you have to go with another to get the proper height?

I think it will be a great match for my needs. My son is gonna freak when he opens up his gun and all the gear for it. Putting it on and getting it sighted in is going to be huge fun.

Grateful for your help.

Sorry, man....redundant questions.

I went back and better read the thread. You already listed a link to the mount you used. Cool.

Update: I'm now all set. I've got a pair of mounts and red dots coming. This project is coming together really well. I'm sure we'll be pleased with it. Thanks for your help!!!

Glad I could help, thats what were all here for! I think you both will be happy campers, shooting with this dot system is such a piece of cake. For the money it does exactly what a red dot should do..put the bullet where the dot is and at the same time makes the gun look that much sweeter :) Keep us posted on how they work out for ya!

Is it standard to leave the front sights on, and are they the one that came with the gun?

If you want backup sights for if your battery in your red dot dies yes. You dont have to keep the iron sights on if you dont want them. Those are the stock sights that came with the gun.

Awesome! You got the right ones. My box looks exactly like those. If you have any questions about sighting em in or anything let me know.

Use tools on the riser and scope to sinch them down. I don't think hand-tight is quite good enough.

Alright dude, will do. I'll get the properly fitted tools out when we mount the gear.

I think he's starting to realize something is amiss. The boxes from MidwayUSA.com showed up, too. Those had (6) 15-22 magazines and the range bags in them. It's starting to come together.

I paid my FFL for my sons gun yesterday...he said it'd easily be here Thursday. I should've bought them both but funds just aren't there right now as I also bought my wife a CCW pistol. She'll get it on Christmas, too. Santa's packing heat and leaving under the tree this year.
