I bought a box of this stuff and I really like it. Now it's not ideal because the bolt must be pulled back after each shot to eject the last casing, but it's a fun round to shoot because I don't have to worry about anyone hearing it. For those that don't know, they fire with just the primer - no powder.

At 10 yards it seems accurate but I haven't tried it much past that. Maybe tomorrow I'll go out and test it on some paper for you guys.

It's about 1/8th of an inch shorter than a typical .22lr so it makes loading the magazines difficult. Also they didn't always feed correctly (maybe 1/4 of the time they misfed).

All in all I am quite satisfied. 500 rounds was about $25 and that will last me a long time.

Hey Antrieb. How would you compare the noise generated by these rounds? Similar or less than an air rifle?

Also, did you find those locally or order them online?

Be careful firing those in rifles as the bullet may become lodged in the barrel. They are intended for use only in handguns.

Probably about the same or even less. The sound the bullet made hitting a tin can was louder than the primer :D. Purchased on Cheaper Than Dirt.

Colibris seem even quieter to me. Both versions were louder than an air rifle when fired out of a revolver.

Despite the "handgun only" legal disclaimer, I use them in a Rossi Matched Pair I just bought. Makes them barely audible and I am not concerned about a "squib" in a 16" barrel single shot that I can easily inspect after each shot. And, even if a slug gets stuck and I cannot dislodge it, I will just turn the gun into a single shot .410.

I actually had some time for testing. I found that about 1/3 failed to feed. There were 0 FTF. About 1/4 of those that fired failed to extract, so I had to pull out the magazine, push the bolt forward again and re-extract.

The middle target I was sighting in the red dot. By the way this was at about 10 yards. Then I went upper left, upper right, lower right, lower left. I kept adjusting the red dot after each magazine so the lower left was probably the best grouping albeit a few flyers that were my fault due to fatigue. By the way, this was with a bi-pod and I'm still a n00b at shooting.

This is the first time I've ever heard this. My friends and I have fired a couple thousand rounds of these, and probably 95% or so were from rifles, with no issues. The rifle I usually use has a 16" barrel...I suppose it might be a different story from something like a 22" or longer bbl.

Do you have a source on this? I'm not at home right now, so I can't look...but I don't recall it specifying this on the box, does it?

Yeah, the warning is there, but I've read reports that the "Super" Colibri typically work fine in rifles. I believe someone chrono'ed the round coming out of a 15-22 at around 435fps, so that's sorta in the range of some airgun/pellet rifles.

I'd link to the other forum thread discussion, but the mods here don't allow that. :P

I know use the aguila brand subsonics with the larger bullet. They are much quieter then a standard round and they are allow me to shoot just outside the city limits as long as its in a safe direction. They feed just fine like a standard round and so far have had no feeding issues.

I was getting ready for my weekly range trip tomorrow, loading some Blazers into my ammo can. Found a round that didn't have a bullet in it, never found the bullet in the box and didn't see any powder anywhere. Decided to load the casing in the 15-22, close the bolt and see just how loud or quiet a primer only round is in a rifle.

Pulled the trigger, and it was amazingly quiet, way more quiet than my CO2 or pump air rifles. This was with the end of the barrel open, so I would only imagine that super colibri would be even more quiet with a bullet in it. I'll be looking for these at the gun show ammo stands this weekend. Couldn't hurt to give them a try.

They are a ton of fun to shoot! I don't have a range near me so this is the best alternative. My parents have a large farm about 45 minutes away and I go there to shoot the real stuff :).

The one MAJOR downside of this ammo is the failure to feed :(. Problem is that they are shorter than a typical .22lr (see my first post in the thread).

Yesterday I was shooting at some frozen solid pumpkins. The 20 grain bullet blasted right through!

Also I have found that these will feed much better if the bolt is actually pushed forward with your hand in a fast motion. Just releasing the bolt seems to cause more failure to feeds.

now you know why we buy/build suppressors imagin how much more fun it would be to dump a mag at the same noise level and be able to still shoot faster ammo like standard vel. stuff,or high vel in a pistol with the can

for anyone that doesnt own their own can, i can not tell you how bad you need to take that plunge.. You can pass them down to your children at no charge and it is a 200 dollar one time tax to register it... Not to mention the looks that you get when you whip out your "pissed off staple gun" and dump a mag at a range

Legal in NY?

you have to check your local laws... its a right to own a suppressor in Tn but it may not be your "right" in N.Y.. so much for the United States:rolleyes:.... guns should come from the factory with suppressors it should be a safty concern... I truely feel for the people that live in states that pay more taxes and have less rights.. I hope that will change one day and it probably will but not in the right direction..

It really is unfortunate :(. With a quick search I can't find anything but if I had to guess I would put money on them being illegal in NY state.
