Are the barrel nuts on a lot tighter on the pistols? I had the teeth all the way seated and still I keep breaking the teeth off. Looks like I may need to invest in a real barrel nut wrench.:(

Could I be doing something wrong? It seems so simple, the teeth were seated properly and I was turning it the correct direction (lefty loosy) and still nothing.

Silly site won't let you type the word C.R.A.P.....

Yes, you need to just get the correct tool. Most barrel nuts are on fairly tight. If I could turn one with just PVC, I would be wondering why they did not give that thing another 1/2 turn.

I bet if i were to get the teeth to the exact depth so that the rest of the pvc pip is touching the barrel nut, that should increase the strength and not break the teeth.

Soon as I get my SBR stamp back, Ill be sellling my nice barrel wrench :)

You can get my barrel nut wrench end (hobby) and make any length wrench you want.
I don't know how S&W tightens the barrel nuts, but it seems like it is very inconsitant.

electrical conduit and a dremel will set you free, or set your barrel nut free anyways. ;)
