Which one fits the 15-22, the CAR-1 or the SD-1?

If both fit, could everyone post pics of theirs and say which one it is? Trying to decide which one.. Thanks!

I guess it doesn't matter now, but for anyone else who wants the info....

The SD-1 will not fit without cutting it down. The CAR-1 fits just by removing the end cap. You can leave the end cap on if you use the crush washer.

The Car-1 is available with or without the white writing on the side if you prefer the all black look.

I remember a thread awhile back that had a custom made fake can that was bigger like the SD-1, but didn't require any permanent modification to either the rifle or the can itself. I would have gone that route if I had read it on time. Oh well, I'm happy with my Car-1.





Mine and a friend's. He had to get a 15-22 after shooting mine. Both have Spikes CAR-1's.

What and where do you have to cut down?

Off the back (closer to the handguard).

I guess I don't know that for a fact. I saw a youtube vid that a guy made who bought the SD-1.

I'm just guessing that was because he didn't want to remove the hand guard end cap.
A 4.5" shroud solves that and it leaves a small gap between the shroud and the hand guard.
There are so many custom variances people want that no single company can possibly make everything.

Could be.

He talks about how the inside of the hand guard tapers in as you get closer to the receiver. Since he mentioned that, I assumed he removed the end cap.

Hey Gopher does that cheek rest interfere with the charging handle?

Only on the first two positions. I run mine at 6, or 5 if I have a coat on, so I don't have that issue.

If you reverse the cheek rest, the charging handle won't hit it at all, even with the stock fully collapsed.
I have it that way, but you have to have the Magpul Enhanced Rubber Butt-Pad 0.70" for it to look good and the end of the cheek rest not dig in your shoulder.
