Can you use airSoft accessories on a 22 since it has very to no recoil the prices for airsoft lights and lasers are a lot cheaper even with the same part numbers. Does anyone use those accessories or the 15-22

Sure you can, its only a .22 anyway. Some guys go all out with $500 optics but unless you are competition shooting there is no need. Most of us just use the 15-22 for plinking so the airsoft accessories will work fine.

My local airsoft store has AR accessories which are really low-end stuff for real rifles, some not so low end (quad rails, etc). I paid $35 for an Aimpoint look-alike which is probably solid enough for my LE6920. It's intended for the entertainment of my grandchildren, but I may try it out on the range some day. Unlike the Aimpoint, it is not submersible, nor even very weather resistant. I guess you get something for the big bucks. We'll see if it goes cross-eyed under recoil.

Personally, I don't see why not. I transferred my Magpul MOE stock from my 15-22 to the AR15 I assembled. I just ordered a Magpul PTS MOE stock to put on my 15-22.

For example a Magpul AFG v.s. a Magpul PTS AFG. No moving parts. It's almost a solid hunk of plastic. IMO, no practical difference between the two.

.22lr isn't a punishing round. I really don't see why a PTS magpul sight couldn't be used.

is there a place that sells Magpul PTS stuff for significantly less than standard MP stuff? i haven't seen any....

I don't have any problem putting Airsoft accessories on a .22. Especially something that isn't involved in the actual shooting. I'd avoid muzzle devices and the like, but most of those are 14mm thread anyway.

These guns don't need to survive an IED in Afghanistan they need to absorb minute amounts of recoil. My shorty M4 AEG on full auto rattles things around pretty good, and the force I exert on the parts is probably stronger than the recoil impulse of .22 anyway.

For cheaper PTS parts you gotta order off the internert. That's my experience anyway.

yup ive gotten most of my pts stuff from amazon and havent had any issues. also find some stuff on ebay, just make sure you can return if you're not happy. so far havent had any issues with airsoft stuff on my gun.

this might be a dumb question, but what about the handguards? I don't know anything about Airsoft...as far as, how they are assembled...do they use the same type of barrel nuts?...could you attach a free float rail that was intended for an airsoft M4 to the 15-22?

Probably.

Many Airsoft front ends don't have a hole drilled for the gas return tube so they can't go on real guns (without drilling some holes).

For the rest, they are pretty darn close to the real ones, and they attach just like the real ones do.

Ok, I came across this thread because I was curious about it myself... Can you use pts sights on an m&p
1522?
It's been a while since this thread has been hit. So does anyone have any updates on their success?

Ebay is your friend, I get most of my gear off ebay for all my weapons....you just have to be careful and know a little about what you're looking for, there are a lot of Chinese knock-offs out there.....even of Magpul parts.

Yes, you can. Be advised that they are not near a strong as regular Magpul sights. Same for most PTS items. I tried to save a little money by putting a PTS AFG2 on my grandson's 15-22. It will be OK for a nine-year old, but a little too flimsy for my rifle.

Be advised that virtually all the "really great deal" Magpul sights on eBay are Chinese knockoffs and not real Magpul. They aren't even real PTS.

Pursuing through pts sights, I came across this little guy.. Aim Sports Red/Green Dot Sight - Special Ops Edition ...

Looks ok, posted it says one mos at 100, with a 3 moa dot. Metal construction. Mostly want this for shooting cans, but this guy, I had in Afghanistan. I got it thinking meh, 40 bucks, might be good for plinking, but I fell in love with it, put it on my m4 and kept it there. I qualified with it first time out, 40 out of 40. Its cheap, but dependable, and accurate. It held zero the whole time.=1608252

I am thinking of getting a 45 offset rail to mount them both. Any thoughts?
The base is see through, so I can even have my BUS. Could even be a great zombie killer lol.

Airsoftgi.com is a good place to get both Magpul stuff as well as tac gear. Its usually free shipping over 100 and they've constantly got coupon codes going. I ordered a new gun bag with molle and pouches, Magpul vert grip as well as rail covers and a couple other small things and it came in under $90 with free shipping and all.

I've also got the replica ACOG on my 15-22. It zero's in beautifully and holds well, I've never had any problems with it and for a tenth of the price I'm good with it.

I'd stay away from the PTS flip sights. They will not be functional even on the 15-22. I have a set on mine and they are more or less eye candy. They are pretty flimsy and the rear site adjustment is worthless and the folding aperture barely stays up. These should defenatly only be used on airsoft guns. I have the actual PTS sights and not the ebay knockoffs.

MattO, I tend to agree with you, depending on your need for back up sights. about 99% of them on a 15-22 will be eye candy.

However, because I use my 15-22 in competition I like to have back up sights. I solved the rear aperture problem by simply cutting it off. I only have the large aperture on it now, and it works for the shooting I do, up close and fast. Although honestly I can use the tube of the "Aimpoint" and the front sight to get most of the hits I need anyway.

I could fork out for real ones except 1) the 15-22 is a cheap alternative to my center fire, which I use in "serious" competition. Putting on just another $100 item on means you soon end up not having a cheap alternative any more 2) the frequency of failure in the RDS. I'm using a cheap Aimpoint knockoff and it is fantastic. It hasn't died yet, pretty much negating any need for the BUIS. Battery life is an issue, around 500 hours, so make sure you turn it off. Kinda like a $500 Eotech :p
