What UTG Red Dot & Magnifer / mount combo do I want?
I'm probably buying a M & P 15-22 in the next day or so and think I've narrowed down my Red Dot I want to a UTG model.
This is all new to me so I'd like some input please on what model, mount and magnifer I should get for my gun.
I'll probably replace the stock sights with Magpuls if that makes any difference.
Was thinking of this Red Dot: Leapers, Inc. - Hunting/Shooting, Sporting Goods and Security Gear
And this magnifer: Leapers, Inc. - Hunting/Shooting, Sporting Goods and Security Gear
Is this a good combo - or should I be looking at something else?
Thanks!
Bill

I'm a newbie but I've learned that most will tell you to try whatever sight, magnifier, ammo type that's good for you and your AR. I'll bet most of the guys here have many spare parts and probably I will too. I have three types of ammo to try next time out. I'm buying a Vortex Strikefire red dot because I can't afford an EOTech or Aimpoint yet.
I was told...if you like it, want it then get it. You can always sell things to others wanting them.
Just my two cents, hope it helps

In my limited experience with UTG sights, my best suggestion is "none of the above". While I'm sure some may like UTG products, I was not overly impressed with their quality or ability to hold zero.
If I were looking for an inexpensive red dot for a 15-22 I'd personally recommend one from Primary Arms. They have a really good reputation (considering that they are knock-off optics) and are fairly inexpensive. Last I checked, however, they were in short stock. I'm guessing they are waiting for a new shipment from their manufacturer in China.

I've heard good things about the UTG red dot/magnifier. I'll probably end up putting the combo on my 15-22 and I believe you can put it on an AR-15 without any issues.
Shinny: You will like the Vortex Strikefire, I used to have mine on my 15-22 but I moved it over to my AR-15. It holds zero and the brightness settings on it are plenty bright enough.

I have the 5th gen UTG the same as your link, it's a fine red dot for the price and comes with a high mount that will work great. I don't have the magnifier but see no reason they wouldn't pair up.

opticsplanet.com has the vortex strikefire and the UTG 4" red dot both in stock with free s&h and the UTG red dot is cheaper on opticsplanet.com than on Leapers website.

It would be interesting to know how many of these Chinese-made sights are actually made in the same factory, regardless of who's name is on them. I'm betting the vast majority.
