two of my 15-22 mags are worn slap out. i guess the feed lips are worn down cause it will let a round slide up between them and stand straight up out of the mag. i tried to epoxy the top part of the mag back together tight but i still get the pop up. anything i can do? i hate to just toss two mags...

update 2:
i tried out the suggested heating method. worked like a charm. used a flat tool to press them down after a few seconds in front of a heat gun. got the gap down to around 4 mm. ran both mags thru the guns with no problem. now will i trust them in the ruger rimfire state finals? no way but they are fine for plinking.

thanks!

Maybe a little heat from a torch, and try to squeeze them back togethernn

I am curious what the cure is for this also. More so, is there anything we can do to keep the feed area from wearing down? Maybe a coating of JB Weld... Too bad they aren't metal mags.

So how many rounds have you shot out of it ? Photos would really help.

I'm shocked to hear they are wearing out. I've run a lot of brass through a single first gen Pmag that still works. It's hard to think a modern poly mag would wear out. Much less a .22LR mag.

Edit: The Lifetime Service Policy covers functional defects; it
does not include the firearm’s finish, grips, magazines or sights.

So much for robust.

It's best to find out what caused the problem BEFORE doing anything "corrective".

age + use

If they are just "worn out", I read no implication there is anything to correct in the OP's post. This is an attempt to salvage worn mags, not fix an apparent problem as I read it.

I'm not saying 15-22 mags are run over with a tank proof like Pmags but they are both made of a similar poly compound. I'm just trying to figure how .22LR cases are chewing up anything a .223 wouldn't.

OR

Is this something with how the bolt rubs the mag lips? I've never actually looked at how mine functions. I just shoot the heck out of it.

I have about 15K thru the first 5 of mine and they are starting to get chewed up feed lips and jamming rounds vertically out of the mags. I still have another 5 mags with little use to use. I am going to try and correct the little indentations and gouges in the plastic lips on the well worn ones to see if it can be done. The 5 CMMG mags of my .22 conversion kit also get chewed up but don't seem the have the feeding issues the 15-22 mags get when worn.

i talked about this for awhile in Doomsday tacticals thread on him making his own magezines, i think it was around page 6, if you want you should read through it, theres a few good oppinions/facts/whathaveyou in there.

have you thought about sending them back to Smith and Wesson? Whats the worse they could say sorry your out of luck? Maybe they offer to sell you some mags at a discount.

S&W has no 25 round mags in stock and has no plans to produce more 25-round magazines until the current hysteria is settled.

I was sad to see they have adopted the anti-gun news medias nomenclature - high capacity magazines.

25-round is STANDARD CAPACITY; anything less is REDUCED CAPACITY!

I have looked at my used mags and I have brand new unfired mags. I can see no difference at all in the feed lips. They all still have mold marks, the used and new alike. I haven't shot any of them a lot but I would have to think that if they are going to wear out that surely there would be some wear from the beginning. They show no signs that there has been any contact with the bolt at all. Could you post pictures of the mags that are wearing out? I would like to know what you are seeing.

ill get some pix this weekend. and i wont throw them away. i will save all the parts as spares. and they also work good when you mount them in a vise and use them as a armors block for removing your handgaurd and barrel.

With standard capacity mags having an uncertain future, I can't help but wonder if the 15/22 mags couldn't be repaired at some point. Maybe some sort of steel inserts would be possible if there is enough demand for it.
