I just got my Primary Arms Multi-Reticle 30mm Red Dot Sight PAM3M and Cantilever mount.

It was packaged very well and shipped quickly from Primary Arms in Texas. The red dot felt like a well made piece and had a nice weight. The cantilever mount felt well made too.

I mounted the cantilever on the forward position of the rail. I suggest being careful when attaching to the rail, do not over tighten. You will either strip the bolt or damage part of you rail. The mount felt of very good quality but the bolt you tighten does not seem to be as well make as I would like. The mount went on fine on my mp 15-22 rail. The nut tighten fine but I could feel where you could strip it or screw your rail up. Let me make it clear that this mount cost $10 and does exactly what I need it to do. Remember I am writing a review and want to give the truth and not drink any Primary Arms cool aid. For $10 it is a super value. It would be nice to have a high quality cantilever mount but I would then pay as much or more for a mount as I did my red dot. Maybe someone can rig up a QD for this mount. I think this could be done fairly easily if you knew where to get what you need to modify it. Note: READ the instuctions on how to tighten the mount to the rail before installing on your rail.

Next I mounted the red dot and that all went fine. It had 6 torx for the mount. So if you order you need a set of small torx screw drivers. I tighten them in small increments on each side to make the red dot tighten evenly across the mount. The red dot felt very solid in the mount once it was tighten. I suggest you remove the cover for the battery capsule, it gives you more room to tighten one of the torx bolts.

My setup with the 30mm Red Dot is lower 1/3 co-witness with the stock mp 15-22 sights. They were not the magpul sights. The standard front sight is super nice IMO. The rear sight is fine too. I can say I do like the lower 1/3 co-witness. My sights are dead on at 25 yards so I adjusted my red dot w/ the red dot reticle to match my sights. I am not sure this will hold true but it should. If it does not then it gives me more time at the range :-). My impressions of the 2 moa red dot reticle are excellent. I also flipped between the other reticles and they are also nice and clear and crisp. The brightness levels are easy adjusted via the knob. I must give all of this an excellent. It has many brightness levels that would fit all my needs when shooting. All the caps/knobs are easily removeable. The battery is a CR2. You can find these batteries for cheap on the Internet. I will put a spare in my magpul plus grip with a little cloth to keep it from rattling. The lense caps seem fine. I am sure you could get better ones but these seem to provide the function I need. No complaints about the flip up lens caps.

I feel this red dot is a perfect match for my mp 15-22 if it will hold up at the range and keep zero. After I get some mileage on this red dot and feel it is a solid product I will get one for my Double Star AR-15. I will say I do have a UTG Red Dot and this is a far superior product. It is not even a contast IMO.

I will say many people have said when you change the reticle that zero will not be the same for each. I can say I did flip between each reticle and co-witness through my stock sights and they appeared to be in the same place. I would like to purchase a troy rear folding sight but $119 is a lot. I like the troy because it has 2 different size peepholes. I think this would be a good combo with the Primary Arms 30mm tube red dot.

I will give another final review once I take it to the range. I really do not anticipate any issues with holding zero and feel if you are looking for a red dot for your mp 15-22 I think this fits the mold perfectly. I can only assume the micro dot that primary arms sells is of the same quality. I do know the micro dot is never in stock so it must be a quality product. I will also say if you are not going to use the other reticles on the Primary arms then get the 30mm 3 moa red dot. I assume it is just like the multi-reticle but with a slightly larger dot. I think it will save you some cash for other upgrades and perform as well as the multi-reticle.

I just got the PA 30mm Red Dot, not multi reticle, for both of our 15-22s. Haven't had the chance to hit the range yet to see how it works outdoors.

Do you like the location you mounted it? I mounted mine a little more forward. I may move mine once I go to the range and start my testing.

Thanks for your review. I've been torn between the PAM3M and the Vortex Strikefire. I was all set on spending the extra for the Vortex but it would be nice to save some money and go with the PA model. Ohhh the choices! lol

I'll let you know after I get everything sighted in again LOL. Changed out the iron sights also. But I don't plan on getting a magnifier, so it should be good to go right where it sits.

got to the range and got primary arms to zero at 25 yards

Got a chance to go to the range and zero my new primary arms red dot. All I have to say is WOW what an nice red dot for the money. I really like the way it operates and how high it is mounted. The red dot is crisp and clear and I like the different brightness levels of the dot. The knobs are very easy to work on the red dot. Its mounted forward on the upper just before the quad rail. I moved it more forward and seem to like that. I emptied 13 x 25 round mags and only had one failure to fire federal. I put some cci through the 15-22 and all ran flawless. I must say I have had good results with the cci ammo. The federal is very nice too but usually get 1 failure to fire pure 525. That's fine with me for the price. Here is a pick of my zero at 25 yards with federal bulk pack at the indoor range. I shot from a bench. If the primary arms holds zero then I will be getting one for my Doublestar AR15.

I just got mine yesterday in the mail can you post a couple of pictures of where you have it mounted so I have a good starting point.

Thanks

Think I'll keep it where it's at. This is a paced 30 yards, 25 rounds, Wyoming wind from left to right. Shot from a seated bench with the mag used as a mono pod.
