I found a few references to Aguila ammo on this board but haven't seen anybody specifically comment on the two products sold by the CMP.

Has anybody used either of these in the 15-22? If so, what were the results and would you buy it again?

The pricing is decent by today's standard, and I am not in a particular rush so the 120 days doesn't bother me. Just want to be sure I am buying something that works good in the 15-22, M&P 22, 10-22, Walther TT Olympia, and S&W 22A.

Thanks in advance for any feedback

I haven't used it in a 15-22 but have used the Golden Eagle in almost everything else. It is better than most ammo I've used, I consider it a good deal. This statement is from the CMP forum.

"AGUILA .22LR AMMUNITION. The CMP is sold out of caliber .22 rimfire ammunition. The manufacturer, Aguila, has advised that the earliest we can expect resupply is late April, 2013, at slightly higher pricing. We are still accepting orders and will fill those orders as soon as we have received new inventory. At the rate that orders are being received for this backordered ammunition, the entire resupply quantity may be sold before it is even received. Anyone interested in receiving this .22 ammo should place their order now and get on the list."

I have used the AguillaSE for bullseye pistol in a Colt 1911A1 with Marvel conversion unit, S&W M41 and PardiniSP.

I really like the Super Extras personally. I bought several bricks of them from Midway when they were still in stock. They seem pretty clean, cycle flawlessly for me, and haven't had a dud in 3000 rounds. Seem to perform just as well in my 22/45 too.

It's between those and CCI AR Tacticals and Standard Velocity round nose that it seems like I've had the most consistent grouping w/ of the ammo that I've tried.

Thanks for the feedback.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter. CMP has restricted 22lr ammo to club sales only (even though the target ammo says "club membership required").

So in the end, I will just keep checking in on the 22lr availability thread.

Spartan,
If I may ask.
Where did you see that CMP .22 lr is restricted to "club sales only"?

When I put it in my cart and went to check out.... it didn't provide a continue button and gave a reason of club sales only.

As I noted, it does say on the Aguila Super Extra "club sales only", however the Aguila Golden Eagle Target only says "club req".

I have used aguila 22 super maximum hyper velocity with great success in my standard 15-22

I've been using the SE in bullseye competition in my Walther GSP for the last few years. I did some careful testing and found it was every bit as accurate at the CCI SV I was using previously. I've had no misfeeds or ejection problems and only one FTF in a few tens of thousands of rounds fired.

Hi again Sparta,
I've ordered the Aquila Super Extra as recently as yesterday, as an individual, without problem. Of course it went in to backorder as expected but I did receive confirmation.

All of the eligibility requirements listed below have to be met or it won't accept the order, or if some of your documents have expired, the order will be placed on hold.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. I will contact them regarding my docs. It has been a while since my last order, so I probably do need them updated.

A big thanks !.... you were correct that my docs weren't up to date. I contacted them and got things corrected and was able to place an order. :D

Sparta,

just an FYI... I have tried both... if you are shooting a new gun...it needs broken in and will need the 1200 FPS Aguila, the Golden Eagle Target...
The lower velocity sometimes wont recock the hammer...

HTH,
Paul
