First time poster here, and I'm picking up my first 15-22 Saturday afternoon. With all the recent insanity on pricing on any rifle, especially anything in black, I found a great deal on a Performance Center model, and I'm wondering if there are any mods that are recommended, or any common malfunctions that I should look out for? I've read on the forum about various problems that folks have needed to send their 15-22 back to the factory to correct, and other things that people have needed to/wanted to work on/polish/etc. right out of the box, and I'm wondering which ones, if any (optimistically), apply to the PC model? Thank you all in advance, I've loved all the info available on the forum, I've learned so much all ready!

You should be good to go. One thing to do first is read the manual. A lot of questions that show up on here could be answered if people just read the manual. Also if you have time, look on youtube and get familiar with the firearm. One thing you may want to look for is to make sure the spring on top of your bolt is blue. Some of the earlier rifles had problems and S&W corrected the problem with the blue spring. If its blue your good to go. If its not, chances are you won't have any problems but it would be a good idea to contact S&W and they will send you the updated spring. The rifle is a solid platform with a track record of having very few problems. Take your time and learn to load the magazines properly. The rounds should be staggered from left to right when properly loaded. Inserting one round at a time usually accomplishes this. As far as upgrades, that is usually personal preference. I would recommend starting off using the iron sights and later upgrade to red dot or scope. Save your money for ammo/magazines and get familiar with the rifle. You will love it. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Mainly don't run Stingers thru it. The match chamber is too short for them. Read the box on ammo restriction on the PC model.

You are going to like that rifle! The only thing you will hate about the rifle is when you run out of ammo! I hate that myself! :)
There are so many toys you can add to make it truly yours. Enjoy.

Thanks for all the advice everybody. I went ahead and read through the manual on the S&W website, though I'll certainly be reading through it again tomorrow once I have the rifle in front of me.I've already ordered some goodies for it, so it looks like tomorrow afternoon will be spent doing the initial cleaning, installing the accessories, and cutting out the foam in my hard case. I can't wait!
