Geissele SD-3G trigger
Guys & Ladies,
I would like to hear the good and bad review on this trigger. From what I was told by a couple of gun smiths...1: He owns one on his AR-15 and MP 15-22LR he loves it on both weapons and never had problems. 2. The other gun smith says the Geissele SD-3G will not fit the 15-22LR? Before I spend the money out on buying this trigger I would like to see if this trigger fits or no. There's another forum member who's using this trigger I can not get him to respond.
This is the one I am interested in:
Super Dynamic 3 Gun

Mine fit just fine. I had some questions before I put one in, so E-mailed the company. Bill Geissele personally messaged me back and answered all of my questions, and assured me that yes, the SD-3G, and for that matter, all Geissele triggers fit the 15-22. I've got well over 2k rounds through it since I put it in, and no hick-ups.

First thank you guys for the replies. This leaves me to my last question one of the representatives for Geissele emailed me back saying the SD-3G wouldn't work it's made for competitions and not target shooting? But he did say that the SD-E works better and made for target shooting/practice.

Both will 'work' in the 15-22. Dimensions are the same...ie they both fit like anyother AR trigger). The difference is that the SD-3G is a single stage trigger and the SD-E is a two-stage trigger.
I have SSA-E's in my PD AR's and a S3G in my 15-22.

SD3G for fast fun shooting (resets quick)
SDE for target/precision shooting
SDC for all around kinda shooting

For it's intended purpose (plinking...maybe a steel match?), it comes down to personal preference.
I've used both styles in my 15-22 and did fine with both in steel matches.
In PD guns or guns used by less experienced shooters, I recommend the two-stage trigger.
IF you keep your finger off trigger like we're supposed to...it's not an issue.

I meant to add...maybe you can find local shooters who have guns with the two triggers...who would let you try them out...

ok, so, I kind of have decided on the Geissele SD 3G for a trigger upgrade.
quick questions, who offers the best price on these, are you sure they are single stage, and should I use the M&P pins on the install and is there a special size for this trigger for the M&P 15-22?

You'll need to search to find the best price. Just depends on who has it in stock, who has it on sale, etc.
Yes, it's a single stage trigger.
I'd use the pins that come with the trigger. They are standard AR size pins.

Geissele has as good a price as any plus free shipping and a hat and some other misc goodies included.
What kind of shooting are you doing? I have SD-3G's in my 15-22s for Rimfire Challenge / Steel Challenge. They're great for that purpose BUT for general shooting I'd suggest the two stage SD-C or SD-E. Get the Colt 901 pins while you're ordering Trigger & Hammer Pins For COLT 901 They're the right length to sit flush with the outside of the lower instead of recessed like the originals. They fit "just right", I have them in mine.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Useless comment, but got to say I LOVE my SSA in my LE-6920
The SSA it the only semi version Geissele trigger that is safety certified by Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center. That means a TON to me because I run and gun with my LE-6920 in Outlaw 3-Gun.

Certainly a currently fashionable choice. Any experience with the SD-3G you'd like to share?

probably contact the manufacturer about pins, etc. I think I read somewhere there is a special size or something regarding the M&P .22
I bought mine from Slide Fire Solutions, so has been tuned by them, new trigger installed by them, recoil enhancer by them.
Not something i am gonna run right out and do, plenty of time to get my ducks lined up
