Does the standard M&P 15-22 come with a compensator?
Does the standard M&P 15-22 come with a compensator? Or just the MOE version? Also, can you put a 2 point sling on a standard 15-22?

it comes with a compensator, just dont buy the non threaded CA version.
the MOE comes with a rear swivel for one point slings, i do not think the regular version comes with it but dont quote me on that. im pretty sure you can attach a sling to the butt stock however.
ive seen people use rail mounted swivels on the front...
id recommend the MOE version for the flip down sights, a permanent cowitness is kind of annoying IMO.

No 15-22 comes with a compensator from the factory. Some models come with a FLASH HIDER. They are two different items with two different functions.
A flash hider does just what it says, hides (to some extent) the muzzle flash and nothing else.
A compensator is a device with holes and slots to reduce muzzle climb and rearward recoil. Depending upon the design, they may or may not hide/reduce the muzzle flash.
A muzzle brake (NOT break) is a device designed to reduce muzzle climb and rearward recoil. Most do not reduce muzzle flash, but may actually make it more visible - and they generally increase the report because they direct the gasses sideways and to the rear.
In reality, the muzzle flash of .22 LR is so minor a flash hider is more cosmetic than actually useful. For most shooters, it's simply what many call "tacticool". Likewise, the compensator and muzzle brake. Unless specifically designed for .22 LR, they do little, if any, actual recoil reduction. Such devices designed for .223/5.56 are useless on .22s, except to add a few ounces of weight at the muzzle.
Yes, you can put a two-point sling on a 15-22. Several companies make adaptors to do so, including one of the vendors here, Tacticool.com. Jody makes some great products for the 15-22 and other firearms.

That thing on the end of the barrel is a flash hider? And I thought it was there to keep the boy from mucking up the crown on the muzzle..

That's the only really useful purpose for the FH on a .22.

FIFY. The only difference of the California versions is that they come with a 10-round magazine instead of a 25-rounder. You can still get the threaded barrel with the flash suppressor in CA.

I was wondering about the do not buy the Calif model. Like stated above - I have one and it has a 10 round magazine. It
also has a non threaded barrel. I see no reason for the barrel to be threaded. They do look cool with the FH.

The threaded is nice because you can add all kinds of cool shrouds.

None of the 15-22s come with compensators, they come with flashhiders only. Although somewhat ludacris as an AR 5.56 flashhider does not have to hide much of anything from a .22LR round. Compensators are specifically designed to reduce muzzle lift and recoil in competition firearms.
