Hello,

What is the difference between models 10213 and 811034? I am new to the rifle game. 10213 is a newer model I realize and it has slimmer Mapgpul accessories, but what are the other differences? Why is one Sport and the other not labeled as such? Is it because it is the newer version of the 15-22?

I am also looking at the M&P15 TS, so I am looking for the version of the 15-22 that best compliments the full size 15 also containing Magpul accessories.

Thanks

I may be able shed some light on this.

You are correct, the SL is a newer version. (MSRP $499) It has the slimmer M-Lok handguard that is on the newer "Sport" 15-22. And instead of the standard A2 grip and stock that comes on the 15-22s (MSRP $449), it has the MOE SL grip and stock which are slimmer as well.

The MOE version has the earlier 15-22 quadrail handguard and uses the standard MOE grip and stock that have been around for quite awhile. It also has a $110 higher MSRP than the MOE SL version. (MSRP $609) Other than that, the have the same basic components. And they are harder to find from what I've seen. I think it is because of the price difference and may be on the way to becoming discontinued.

I recently bought the MOE SL version and I can say I really like it although the "slimmer" aspects I'm getting used to. They are definitely lighter in weight but almost too light for me. I got it because the like Magpul and the price difference at Bud's was $30.

I have a couple AR-15s including an M&P 15T that I put a MOE grip and MOE CTR stock on. I also have an AR-15 that I put the MOE+ grip on that I prefer over the standard MOE grip. So that is my basis for comparison.

I think the better route to go would be to get the 15-22 Sport and decide whether you plan on swapping out the grip and stock. Doing that would give you the new SL M-Lok handguard, which seems to be preferred over the quadrail these day. Then you could buy the Magpul MOE grip and stock for much less than the street price of the 15-22 MOE(I'd think)

By the way, the M&P 15TS is a sweet AR. I probably would have gotten it rather than my M&P 15T if it was more available despite the price difference.

Thank you very much for your analysis. I don't know much about rifles. Basically nothing. I have an M&P full size 9 MM with laser grips and flashlight, a 9 MM shield, and a standard sized 22 M&P pistol. I just bought them 2 years ago, never held a gun before then and also have a CPL. I work for Them (Uncle Sam) and feel the need to have defense since I now work for Them in the city that l live in, and some of the clientele I work with at the Them office recognize me around town and are not much always happy with me.

My main interest in long guns is the possibility of another assault rifle ban. Working for Them in a civilian setting gives an interesting perspective on things. I am glad to hear about the 15TS being a good choice. One of my local dealers was trying to tell me that M&P makes junk rifles and was pushing FN Carbine Tactical 15, that that and Daniel Defense is the only thing to have. I don't doubt that those are good brands, not that I would know since frankly I had never heard of them before, but found it hard to believe that SW rifles were junk. He, too, could not get the 15TS, but could the other two. I called another local dealer from whom I will likely purchase the 15TS and the 15-22 both from and she could get all three guns and said it was complete garbuckle I was told that. I purchased my 3 pistols from that same dealer and use his range so I think that also influenced his opinion and pushiness which actually surprised me as he had never acted that way towards me before.

I think I am on the right track. Thank you again.
