Barrel shroud.
Hello all.
So I have a M&P 15-22 Sport.
It has the standard Magpul handguard. Tacticool sells the shrouds for this firearm but not in the 'standard' length. It's 5 1/4 inches from the end of the handguard end cap to the end of the barrel. (Non threaded).
The only sizes they sell are either too short (gap) or too long (past end of barrel). Do I need a custom size for this stock rifle ?
What have others done to get the proper sized shroud ?
Thanks.

I have a Kineti-tech shroud on mine and it fits well. They make different lengths and the shape of the end cap might affect the length some too.
For a perfect fit I got a 1-1/4" od black washer from Fastenal and filed out the center to fit over the barrel.
Good luck
Rick

Is it a big issue for you if the shroud goes past the stock handguard back towards the upper?

Update.
So I received my custom sized shroud from Tacticool today.
I installed it and am happy with the results. My goal here was to retain the end cap to the Magpul handguard. There is a small gap at the end, but ill chalck that up to mfg tolerances.

Hey there. Looks good. So did you tell them you wanted it costumed made instead of ordering the 4.5 or 6 inch shroud? I want to order one and retain my end cap as well. Also, have you noticed a change in bullet impact since having the shroud on?

Yes, multiple times. I don't know but it seemed like I was the 1st. one to order a custom length for the 15-22 Sport.
Haven't shot it yet. Its only cosmetic so shouldn't have any effect on performance.

I provided the measurement that I wanted.
They ( I guess) took a 6 inch one from stock and cut it down to the size I requested.

get the 5 5/8 kinettech and loose the washer for a tight fit to the hand guards.

Hey there. I'll have to look this company up. Thank you for sharing. Question: I'm a little confused. Is the first pic with or without the washer? thanks.

Got it. Thanks. It looks like your barrel is threaded. Is it? Mine and Tomct's are not threaded (CT law). I'm looking at the Kinetic website and I think their options are for threaded barrels only. Otherwise, I may need an adapter. I think I wanted to do the most simple addition, the non-threaded/slip on option.
