Will a CMMG .22 LR Magazine Work in the M&P 15-22?
Have any of you tried to use a CMMG .22LR mag, that comes with their AR 15 to .22lr conversion kit, in your M&P 15-22?
Thank you!

NO Why would you try to convert a 22lr to a 22lr? They are designed to fit into AR-15 not 15-22. Be Safe,

My question was, "Will a CMMG .22 LR Magazine Work in the M&P 15-22?" That was the title of the thread, so I'm not trying to convert a .22LR to a .22LR. Maybe I worded it poorly.

The answer is no. (I just tried in mine). The conversion mags are too deep, front to back, to fit into the 15-2 mag well. With enough time and tools, they might be made to work but with 15-22 mags readily available, why try?
The reverse will work, the 15-22 mags will work in an AR conversion with a shim to stabilize them.

Perfect answer! Thank you so much! I am getting my kid an M&P 15-22 and wanted to see if all the CMMG mags I have will work. Oh well, no big deal.
Happy New Year!

I actually went the other way. Purchased a "ready mag" and installed it in the lower of my CMMG so that I could use M&P 15-22 magazines. Holds the bolt open after the magazine is ejected and allowed me to pick up magazines locally that were on sale, and the kid and I could use the same magazines.

I did the same but the CMMG 22LR/ ready mag/ 15-22 mags combo fouled up %50 faster and made my 8yr old son take my 15-22. He eventually only wanted to shoot the 15-22. So I sold the CMMG upper and have 2 15-22s, soon 3. The daughter hates to share too.
