Suppressor problem
I have a PTP suppressor I’ve tried to use with my 15-22 and also Ruger 22-45. It has deflected the bullet high and right (12 inches at 10 feet) since I bought it. PTP won’t answer phone calls or emails, this started before COVID , so no excuse. Cleaned it, watched their videos, it looks fine to my eye. I hate to spend the time and money on another can, any suggestions? I’ve used all sorts of ammo. Thanks

Have you had it apart? Baffle strikes?

Taken it apart several times, watched PTP Tactical’s YouTube videos. There are no baffle strikes,It fits well on the barrel but I’m not sure what the “shoulder” is.

The 15/22 barrel is threaded farther down than most silencers are threaded inside. Therefor the can cannot seat on the barrel. You will need a spacer of the correct thickness to "fill that small gap" The same may be true with your 2245.
I have had both guns and made spacers for the 15/22 and used an "O" ring on the 2245

The 'shoulder is the little flat spot at the action end, of the barrel threads. The suppressor must be screwed on tight to that. If there is a space at the back of the can, between the shoulder and can, then you MUST use a spacer as the electrodude said. But....., if you are tossing shots 12 inches at 10 feet, you ARE shaving lead (baffle strikes). You need to check alignment of the can to the bore.....

Thanks for responding, guys. The baffles look fine but I’ll clean them with a copper brush and find a shim for the barrel. Hopefully that’ll straighten it out.

Are you saying it does the same thing with both guns?? Some factory threading is not always perfect, so just trying to rule that out. If it does the same on both guns, doubt it is a problem with the threading on the guns. Hope spacers to seat the suppressor shoulder takes care if things. Also, some anti-seize compound is suggested on the threading. Keep us posted.

The result is the same with my 15-22 and my Ruger 22-45 Lite, as well as a pistol used by a friend (not sure what he shot, I wasn't there). High and right. It looks to me it seats firmly against the shoulder but haven't had a chance to brush the bushings or find a shim to try. I'll let you know when I get a chance to do those things. Thanks again for your interest.

Same results on 3 different guns...it's got to be a problem with the silencer. I'd send it back.
I have a 22 YHM silencer, and it shoots great on my 10/22, 22/45, Savage bolt rifle, and CMMG dedicated 22 upper.
I've never heard of anyone ever shimming a can.
Your threads should look like this, about right at 1/2" long.
I had a CMMG 22 conversion kit to run on a 556 AR that had way long threads, and I used a silencer spacer on it, but never a shim.

Unfortunately, PTP Tactical won't respond to my emails or phone calls. I've been trying to send it back for over a year. Their customer service is terrible and I wouldn't recommend them. My LGS has tried to help but to no avail, I think I'll ask them to try again. Maybe COVID has something to do with this mess. Thanks again for your replies.

You need to get a bore rod and check concentricity with the suppressor. My guess is that the threads on your can were not properly machined.
Unfortunately, it sounds like they know this... thus the lack of response.

PTP is just across the Mississippi River from me in Mayfield, KY. They were almost completely shut down last year because of COVID. I've had one on order from them for about 18 months. The LGS where I rent my office space from sells a ton of their suppressors, and has been dealing with them probably since their inception. . .
Within the last month, my LGS received five suppressors from PTP, with dozens more on backorder. Your problem is certainly distressing, but given my experience with PTP, they will eventually get around to helping you. Good luck . . .

Thank you for your insight into PTP Tactical. The issue may be with the threads on the can, makes more sense to me. The can is quiet with subsonic ammo , I would like to be able to use it. Will try again to contact PTP.

I would send a written letter certified mail outlining your problems and the measures you have taken over the year to correct it including the unanswered e mails as copies. THAT usually gets results.
You owe my $75 for the 15 minutes I spent analyzing and responding to your problem

Good advice, Cajunlawyer, that’s about what my lawyer charges. Send me a bill, I’ll get right on it. BTW, I went to Tulane so I know about where you are. Best seafood in the world in my opinion.
